"Having the final MXGP races broadcast on both the Channel 9 network and Stan Sport, along with an international audience, is an incredible opportunity to showcase Darwin as a premier destination,” said Northern Territory Major Events Company Executive Director, Aimee Luxton. "We can't wait to welcome MXGP back to Australia after 24 years.

“This is a significant moment for Territory sport, and with strong ticket sales, we’re confident it will be a popular event both at the track and on screens around the world."

Early in the weekend, the action will kick off with the Motorcycling Australia Motocross State Challenge on Friday, September 19, which showcases the nation’s rising motocross stars in the MX3 and MX85 categories. Saturday action will be a healthy mix of practice, qualifying and racing action for the heavyweight classes, before the main races get underway on Sunday. This includes the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship (WMX), which makes its debut in Australia this year.
