Australian MXoN Team - Applications

Posted on May 13, 2022

While the Australian Motocross of Nations team for the 2022 event at Redbud should be one of their best ever, I always find it entertaining that I get an application form every year from the Australian federation.

Now, I know I won't be applying, but it seems an interesting way to get riders to sign up. I mean, if I got an application form, I have to ask how many riders got the form and I can imagine that 100s apply.

There is no doubt the team will be the Lawrence brothers and either Mitch Evans or Jed Beaton. The form of Evans and Beaton as the event gets closer will decide that rider. No offence to Beaton, as he would be a great rep for Australia, but I do love the idea of Team Australia having three HRC riders, similar to the 1986 Team USA in 1981 and 1986. There is something very cool about a complete Honda factory team.

Anyway, any Aussies out there who didn't get the application form, go ahead and apply to race for your country.

In 2022, RedBud in Michigan, USA will host the 75th Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN). Running from 23 to 25 September, Motorcycling Australia (MA) is today calling for all interested competitors to submit their applications to join Team Australia.

This year will see Team Australia return to the competition for the first time since 2019. Known as the ‘Olympics of Motocross’, Team Australia will join competitors from over 30 countries from all over the world, all vying to be crowned champions and be the pride of their nation.

There are three classes available for riders to nominate for: MX1, MX2 and Open. Riders are advised that they can nominate for more than one class. Applications must be submitted by no later than COB Friday the 10th of June.
