Australian SX - This Weekend
While all Aussies celebrate last weekends victory at the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations, the celebration continues this coming weekend when the Australian Supercross Championship 2025 begins with a double-header event in Redcliffe, Queensland, on October 11-12 at Kayo Stadium.
Dean Wilson is officially locked in for the entire 2025 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship, bringing his world-class pedigree, fan-favourite personality, and trademark grit to every round of the series.
A former AMA 250 Motocross Champion, AUSX SX1 Champion and Quad Lock Honda Racing Australia rider, Wilson is one of the most recognizable international names in the sport. Known for his fearless racing style and larger-than-life presence, the Scottish-born, American-based rider will now line up in every round of the 2025 AUSX season — from the Redcliffe opener through to the Adelaide Grand Final.
“I’m pumped to be back in Australia for a full season with my Quad Lock Factory Honda Team. It’s gonna be great battling with the Aussie boys and putting on a show at every round. Expect fireworks. I love it here. I’ve made so many friends and my team feels like family. There’s a lot of international talent coming in, which is great for the championship. With such a short season, every gate drop counts, I need to bring my A-game.”
Wilson’s return as a full-season contender is a major boost for the championship, guaranteeing fans across the country the chance to see him live in action. His presence also raises the competitive stakes — with the world-class rider set to face off against Australia’s best, plus a wave of international rivals eager to take him down.
Fresh from success in the Canadian Motocross Championships, Phil Nicoletti will return to Australia to contest the entire series with CDR Yamaha. Fans will remember his cameo in last year’s Melbourne round aboard a 250cc for Yamalube Yamaha, but this season he’s back on a 450 and ready to take on the nation’s best.
Mitchell Harrison rounds out the CDR Yamaha roster and arrives with a season’s worth of AMA Pro Motocross and Supercross under his belt. A consistent top-20 finisher in the US, the 2025 series will mark his first time racing in Australia.
Cedric Soubeyras a regular on the World supercross championship, Paris supercross and also AMA racing and six-time French Champion and AMA Supercross top-10 race finisher, Soubeyras, is set for his first full season in Australia.
“I was so excited when I got the call. I know about Yarrive and his team, and the incredible success Honda has had in Australia. My goal is to fight for wins and be on the podium at the end.”
In the 250 class, Shane McElrath will also be on a Honda and the the reigning champion is back, knowing full well the local and international competition is fierce. 2022 and 2023 Australian 250 Motocross Champion and former SX2 champion, Todd returns to the 250 class after a strong comeback in 450cc MX1 championship.
“I had my best 450 season this year after two tough years with injuries. Missing last year’s supercross motivates me even more. The goal is to win the 250 title and move back up to the 450s full-time next year.”
