The 2026 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores (ProMX) continues at the much-loved Gillman track on Sunday, May 10, with a major focus on Jed Beaton after his blazing early-season form in the Kawasaki MX1 class.

Beaton (Monster Energy CDR Yamaha) has won all four MX1 motos in a clinical start to the 2026 championship, leaving defending champion Kyle Webster (Honda Racing Australia) with plenty to think about heading into Gillman’s round three.

However, Gillman is also a happy hunting ground for Webster, so the balance of power could make a u-turn in what’s expected to be another intriguing battle of the class heavyweights.

The Pirelli MX2 and Maxxis MX3 championships also continue at Gillman – Kayd Kingsford (Honda Racing Australia) and Hayden Draper (Monster Energy WBR Yamaha) the current leaders – while it be the first appearance under the ProMX umbrella in 2026 for the stars of tomorrow in the popular KTM Group MX65 Futures class.

Located just a 20-minute drive north of Adelaide’s CBD, Gillman’s sandy loam and challenging jumps make it a favourite for riders, which has been reflected in consistently brilliant racing since the track first joined the ProMX Championship in 2022.

The Sunday schedule will include practice, qualifying and racing in a jam-packed program. The on-track action starts at 7:30am and concludes at 4:00pm.

How to watch round three at Gillman: 9:30am-12:10pm ACST: ProMX Facebook page and www.auspromx.com.au livestream. 12:30-3:30pm ACST: SBS Sport, SBS On Demand, Stan Sport and Sky Sport NZ live coverage. 9:30am-3:30pm ACST: FIM-MOTO.TV livestream

Beaton (100pts) and Webster (86pts) are already beginning to skip clear of the pack in Kawasaki MX1, although 2022 champion Aaron Tanti (Monster Energy CDR Yamaha, 72pts) produced a double podium at Canberra’s round two to keep them in sight.

Webster’s recent Gillman credentials are impeccable – he’s currently on a three-moto winning streak – so Sunday’s action will be an intersection between the Victorian’s pace and flair around the Adelaide track and the high-flying form of Beaton, who is desperate to succeed his great rival as MX1 champion.

Aside from Beaton, Webster and Tanti, Dean Ferris (Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki, 66pts) is the only other rider to finish in the top three so far this season, and the returning four-time champion is fourth in the standings ahead of fellow seasoned campaigner Todd Waters (Raceline Husqvarna TDUB, 64pts) and Wilson Todd (Honda Racing Australia, 63pts).

Ferris and Waters banked podiums at Gillman in 2024, while Nathan Crawford did the same in 2025 and could be a real X-factor in round three after his recent switch to the Moto Coach Elite Racing team on a Honda.

Crawford is currently 10th in the standings, behind Zachary Watson (KTM Australia), Luke Zielinski (Yamaha) and Liam Jackson (Pro Honda Racing). Thirty-six riders will contest the two 25-minute plus a lap motos at Gillman.

While Alex Larwood (Honda Racing Australia) leads the Pirelli MX2 ledger in terms of victories in 2026 – three out of four – it’s boom rookie Kingsford who leads the standings thanks to greater consistency.

Mind you, there’s only 3pts in it (83 to 80), with KTM Australia duo Byron Dennis (78pts) and Dylan Walsh (78pts) also lurking in a logjammed leaderboard after multiple podium finishes of their own.

It’s a home round for Larwood on Sunday, so with raucous local support he’ll be determined to make his way back to the top of the MX2 standings in the 20-minute plus a lap motos.

Other contenders in round three will include Noah Ferguson (Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha), Ryan Alexanderson (JPM 360 Kawasaki), Ryder Kingsford (Honda Racing Australia) and Koby Hantis (Yamaha).

Ryder Kingsford was on fire at Gillman in 2025, sharing first and second places with eventual champion Brodie Connolly, while Deacon Paice (KTM) and Jayce Cosford (JPM 360 Kawasaki) were also prominent.

We’re also yet to see Japanese star Souya Nakajima (Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha) at full flight in ProMX mode, so he could also be one to watch.

If there’s one rider who knows all the nuances of Gillman, it’s Hayden Draper (Monster Energy WBR Yamaha). The New Zealander spent a week on location in 2025 en route to victory in the blue-ribbon 15 years 150cc 2T/250cc 4T class at the KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championship (AJMX).

He’s now returning to the scene of the junior masterclass leading the Maxxis MX3 Championship by 20pts (95 to 75) over Riley Burgess (KTM), with Jack Deveson (Monster Energy WBR Yamaha, 60pts) and Jackson Fulller (KTM Racing Team, 60pts) deadlocked in equal third.

Draper’s healthy margin after two rounds is not only a function of multiple victories, but also the fact that six other riders have finished on the podium so far – allowing the Kiwi to take maximum advantage as others shave points off each other.

Of course, it’s also a sign that competition is thriving in the 14 to under 18 class – and Gillman will be another pressure cooker with 56 riders to battle it out in qualifying for the 40 spots on the gate for the two 20-minute plus a lap motos.

Draper will be joined on the gates by a multitude of other 2025 AJMX standouts including Seth Thomas (GASGAS Australia), who is currently sixth in the MX3 standings behind Heath Fisher (Honda Racing Australia).

Pound for pound, it’s hard to go past KTM Group MX65 Futures for pure motocross entertainment, in a class which provides a national platform for the next generation of motocross talent.

Ryder Madafiglio (Husqvarna) and Nate Forwood (KTM) are among the favourites to burst out of the blocks at Gillman after finishing third and fourth respectively in the 2025 MX65 Futures, as well as starring in the AJMX Championship. But with Gillman heralding the start of a new season, the door is firmly open for any number of other riders to turn heads.
