Bogers Wins Moto One - Finland

Posted on August 14, 2022

Husqvarna factory rider Brian Bogers has again won in the sand, this time moto one in Finland and if The Netherlands were not favourites for the sand of RedBud in the 2022 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations, they must be now.

Brian Bogers: It is amazing to perform again like this. We did the same thing in Lommel, but these two tracks are very different. This track is a bit sketchy, but it is still amazing.

It wasn’t just Bogers who showed good speed today, his countryman and team captain for RedBud in September as Glenn Coldenhoff, finished second, with Maxime Renaux third.

The championship picture remains similar with Tim Gajser finishing sixth and his main rival Jeremy Seewer fourth. The points gap with five motos remaining and 125 points available was 112 points. Just give Gajser his fifth championship trophy now!!!

Febvre took the holeshot in the opening MXGP moto and he led Seewer, Gajser, Coldenhoff, Bogers, Fernandez, Evans, Renaux, Prado, and Vlaanderen. Bogers into third as Gajser again takes the calm route to his World title victory. Bogers into second position as he passed Seewer.

A crowded top five as Febvre held a slight lead over Bogers, with Seewer, Gajser, Coldenhoff and Renaux all close together on lap two. Evans a mistake and he dropped to 26th. Febvre a mistake and Bogers takes the lead as he again shows his love of the deep sand.

Bogers quickly getting away from Febvre and on lap three it was Bogers, Febvre, Seewer, Gajser, Coldenhoff, Renaux, Fernandez, Prado, Van Doninck, and Van Horebeek into 10th spot. Seewer down and dropped back to sixth place and maybe we do see a champion crowned today. Gajser needs to get to the top spot.

On lap six it was Bogers, Febvre, Gajser, Coldenhoff, Renaux, Seewer, Van Doninck, VaFernandez, Prado, and Van Horebeek 10th. Amazingly Febvre also went down, twice in fact to hand Gajser second place as Bogers lead was 10 seconds. Top six was now Bogers, Gajser, Coldenhoff, Renaux, Seewer and Febvre.

Coldenhoff and Renaux getting close to Gajser as the championship victory remained in the balance for now. Febvre all over Febvre for fifth position and Bogers lead was 11 seconds on lap eight. Coldenhoff moved past Gajser, with little effort from the HRC rider to stop the move. Safety first obviously for Gajser.

Renaux also passed Gajser as the top ten on lap nine was Bogers, Coldenhoff, Renaux, Gajser, Seewer, Febvre, Van Doninck, Prado, Van Horebeek and Forato into the top ten. Bogers just too good as he cruised up front and on lap 11 it was a 12 second lead over his countryman and fellow sand master Coldenhoff.

Seewer got past Gajser and on lap 15 the top ten was Bogers, Coldenhoff, Renaux, Seewer, Gajser, Febvre, Van Doninck, Prado, Forato and Van Horebeek. Bogers wins it from Coldenhoff and Renaux.
