Any time a young kid comes through and puts together his first major win, you just have the be happy for him, but also for the sport. HRC factory rider Chase Sexton seems to be the real deal and his victory at last weekends San Diego supercross just put a lot of merit in this years AMA 450 supercross championship.

In a class filled with veterans, when youth comes through, you just know that it could be a transition period. Eli Tomac, Ken Roczen, Jason Anderson and Marvin Musquin might still be fast, but their time is limited in this rotating door of a sport that is meant for youngsters.

Sexton to me, is without question the future of American racing and I wouldn't be surprised to see his results continue to get him close to the red plate in this years series. How much confidence he has now we won't really know until the next couple of rounds are complete, but I have a good feeling for this 22 year old American rider.

Check out this cool gallery on Sexton as he wrapped up his first ever AMA supercross main event.
