Cianciarulo wins MEC - Gajser fifth

Posted on October 20, 2019

While Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Adam Cianciarulo captured his first 450 overall with a stunning 2-2-1 result, and led home his more favoured tram-mate Eli Tomac, who scored 1-3-2 results, World MXGP champion Tim Gajser of the HRC team showed amazing speed to finish with 7-4-4 and improved throughout the evening.

After a good start in the opening race, Gajser dropped back to seventh, but quickly regrouped and battled for top three places in the other two races, eventually finishing with 4-4 results. No doubt with more track time the MXGP World champion and fastest man outdoors this year could have been a podium guy.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team’s Dean Wilson missed Saturday night’s Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas after suffering a hard crash during the second qualifying session of the day. Wilson was immediately transported to the local hospital where early reports indicate that he has sustained a dislocated hip.

It was an unfortunate ending to the night for Wilson, who had an impressive showing in the day’s qualifying sessions. He qualified third overall in the first session, finishing only half a second off the leader. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team wishes Dean a speedy recovery as he awaits further evaluation.
