Coenen Goes 1-1 in Germany
Nestaan Husky rider Lucas Coenen won his third GP in a row as he scored 1-1 results and again closed up on series leader and team-mate Kay De Wolf, who finished with 2-2 results for second overall, with Simon Langenfelder third with 3-3 scores.
Lucas Coenen: Yes, three in a row, that is crazy how everything can go perfect. The last laps I was nervous, because of what happened last year (he was leading and his motor stopped). I saw Kay crash and I got the win. It feels good to be honest, it was difficult always thinking about last year. I had a good battle with Kay in the first moto and I wanted the same in the second moto, but I saw out of the corner of my eye he crashed.
Kay De Wolf: It was making mistakes in the second one, but good points for the championship and being consistent. Some small mistakes to work on, but I am really happy.
Simon Langenfelder: For sure, home GP, it was a good one. The crowd was amazing and I was enjoying every single lap and they were cheering super hard. I fought Kay and he passed me, but then he made mistakes and we stayed close.
Championship points are now, Kay de Wolf 396 points, Lucas Coenen 337pts, Simon Laengenfelder 333pts, Liam Everts 304pts and Andrea Adamo 299pts.
MX2 Moto Two
Langenfelder led the second MX2 moto from Adamo, Elzinga, de Wolf, Karssmakers, Lucas Coenen, Haarup, Everts, Chambers, and Sasha Coenen. De Wolf moved into second and then took the lead. On lap one it was de Wolf, Langenfelder, Lucas Coenen, Adamo, Haarup, Elzinga, Karssmakers, Everts, Zanchi and Sasha Coenen.
Lap five and it was De Wolf, Adamo, Langenfelder, Haarup, Elzinga, Everts, Zanchi, Sasha Coenen and Karssmakers. Adamo dropped back after a mistake and was in sixth, just ahead of Everts. Coenen took the lead as De Wolf dropped to third after falling and on lap seven the top ten was Lucas Coenen, Langenfelder, de Wolf, Haarup, Elzinga, Adamo, Everts, Zanchi, Karssmakers, Braceras.
Lap nine and the lead by Coenen was 6.3 seconds ahead of Langenfelder, with de Wolf 8.5 off the leader, then Haarup, Elzinga, Adamo, Everts, Zanchi, Braceras and Karssmakers. On lap 12 not a lot changed with Coenen leading by 10 seconds over Langenfelder, with De Wolf right on the Germans back wheel, then Haarup, Elzinga, Adamo, Everts, Zanchi, Oliver and Karsmakkers.
De Wolf moved into second place on lap 14 and finally a passing move mid-race as the MX2 class really doesn’t see a lot of passing. Langenfelder passed De Wolf, but he passed him back in the same spot soon after. Coenen won the moto and the GP, with De Wolf going 2-2 and Langenfelder 3-3.
