Red Bull KTM factory rider, Lucas Coenen continues to gain points on series leader Romain Febvre with Coenen winning the opening MXGP moto at Loket. The Belgian teenager holeshot and just controlled the race easily.

Second was HRC factory rider, Ruben Fernandez and third privateer, Jan Pancar, while Febvre crashed in the final lap and dropped to fifth place. A disaster for the Frenchman as his points lead was now just seven points. Coenen might leave Loket with the red plate.

Lucas Coenen: For sure, I took a good start. My jump wasn't good but came out good and controlled the race. Start seeing clouds, but I didn't know if it would start raining. I am not thinking about that (Febvre crashing). If I do what I know what I can do, I can race up front and I am being the best person of myself.

Championship points are now Romain Febvre 653 points, Lucas Coenen 646pts, Glenn Coldenhoff 474pts, Ruben Fernandez 437pts, and Calvin Vlaanderen 376pts.

MXGP Moto One

Coenen with the holeshot followed by Pancar, then Gifting, Febvre, Fernandez, Koch, Seewer, Renaux, Coldenhoff and Guadagnini in 10th. Lap six and the lead by Coenen was 15 seconds over Pancar, with Febvre passing Gifting and Fernandez doing the same.

Top ten on lap six was Coenen, Pancar, Febvre, Fernandez, Gifting, Seewer, Renaux, Coldenhoff, Guadagnini and Koch. Febvre really struggling to make passes on this difficult old school circuit. Vlaanderen in 16th and his season continues to be not what he hoped. British veterans Sterry and Watson in 14th and 15th as the British contingent continue to struggle somewhat.

Top ten on lap nine was Coenen with a 20 second lead over Pancar, then Febvre, Fernandez, Seewer, Gifting, Coldenhoff, Renaux, Guadagnini, and Geerts. Coldenhoff passed Gifting and Sterry and Watson moved up to 13th and 14th, so some positive momentum for the Brits.

Seewer a mistake and he dropped to ninth as the top ten on lap 11 was Coenen, Pancar, Febvre, Fernandez, Coldenhoff, Gifting, Renaux, Seewer, Guadagnini and Geerts into the top ten. Febvre all over Pancar but just cannot find a place to pass. A mistake by Febvre and Fernandez all over the Frenchman and red plate man. Van Doninck moved past Geerts, to enter the top ten for the veteran Belgian.

Lap 13 and it was a 21 second lead for Coenen over Pancar and Febvre was a further second back, with Fernandez 22 seconds off the leader and Coldenhoff closing up on Febvre and Fernandez. Not much passing, as was the case in MX2.

Febvre pushing so hard to pass Pancar and he does so on lap 16 and Fernandez all over Pancar now and maybe the Spaniard can also cause Febvre some difficult. Fernandez into third and Coldenhoff now onto the Slovenian.

Coldenhoff pushing Pancar as Febvre cut the lead of Coenen to 12 seconds with a lap remaining, but more from Coenen cruising than Febvre charging. Febvre a mistake and back in fifth place and Coenen gains even more points for the championship. Coenen wins it from Fernandez and Pancar.
