Coenen Wins - Again
Red Bull KTM factory rider, Lucas Coenen continued to make up ground on the series leaders, Tim Gajser and Romain Febvre as he won the Saturday MXGP qualification race. The Belgian teenager looked brilliant, taking the lead early and showing maturity beyond his years.
Lucas Coenen: Track is brutal and I messed up my start, but then Romain made a mistake and crashed. The ruts are hard and with the water, I had a close call at the finish. I just stayed calm and won the moto.
Second was another Red Bull KTM factory rider, Jeffrey Herlings, with Romain Febvre in third, until the final lap, when Herlings fell and Febvre crashed into him, giving Vlaanderen second place and Febvre remounting for third.
Championship points are now Tim Gajser 305 points, Romain Febvre 286pts, Lucas Coenen 237pts, Glenn Coldenhoff 227pts and Maxime Renaux 189pts.
