Lucas Coenen has won the MX2 qualifier at the Spanish GP today. The Belgian won ahead of Simon Langenfelder and Ka De Wolf. In winning Coenen picked up an extra two points, but still needs a miracle tomorrow to beat him his Dutch team-mate in the championship.

Lucas Coenen: It is true, I need to get everything possible to get a chance for the title. I didn't push and tomorrow we need to get a good start and do all we can do have a chance at the title.

Lucas Coenen led the MX2 qualifier from Prugineres, Oliver, Langenfelder, de Wolf, McLellan, Adamo, Reisulis, Haarup and Zanchi in 10th. De Wolf did amazing to get to fifth so quickly, because going into the first corner he was around 20th. De Wolf into fourth, then third.

Coenen getting well away from the pack and De Wolf closing up on second placed Prugineres. Top ten at the end of lap one was Coenen, Prugineres, de Wolf, Langenfelder, Reisulis, Oliver, McLellan, Haarup, Adamo and Zanchi.

Three laps in, it was Coenen with a 10 second lead over De Wolf, who had moved into second, then Prugnieres, Langenfelder, Reisulis, Oliver, McLellan, Haarup, Adamo and Zanchi still in 10th. Langenfelder did a nice job to move into third place.

Lap six and Langenfelder moved past De Wolf to get into second and De Wolf clearly not pushing too hard. The lead by Coenen was 14 seconds. Zanchi up to ninth as Adamo dropped to 10th. Coenen wins it from Langenfelder and de Wolf.
