De Wolf Perfect at Lommel
Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider, Kay De Wolf has won the Grand Prix of Lommel, with a perfect 1-1-1 performance over the weekend. The defending World MX2 champion also clawed back the series points lead of Simon Langenfelder, who finished with a disappointing 7-4. Second overall was Triumph factory rider Camden McLellan with 2-3 scores and third was Red Bull KTM rider, Sasha Coenen with 4-2 finishes.
Kay De Wolf: That was the goal to come here and win and we did what we have to do. I am very proud of the team and everyone involved. We put in a lot of work and thanks to everyone for their help. We are going to enjoy this.
Championship points are now Simon Längenfelder 704 points, Kay de Wolf 666pts, Andrea Adamo 655pts, Sacha Coenen 559pts, Thibault Benistant 513pts
MX2 Moto Two
Coenen led the second MX2 moto from de Wolf, Lata, Langenfelder, Elzinga, Benistant, Valin, Walvoort, Mesters and Fredsoe in 10th. McLellan was 12th and Adamo in 30th. Coenen into the lead on lap two as he made a nice pass on Coenen.
Lap three and the lead by De Wolf was four seconds, with Langenfelder moving past Lata for third and 10 seconds back. Lata held fourth, followed by Benistant, McLellan, Valin, Elzinga, Walvoort, Reisulus. Adamo was up to 16th position.
Lap six the lead by de Wolf was 7.6 seconds over Coenen, with Langenfelder 15 seconds back in third, then McLellan, Valin, Benistant, Elzinga, Walvoort, Lata, Reisulis in 10th. Lap 10 and the lead by De Wolf was six seconds over Coenen, with Langenfelder now 17 seconds back, then came McLellan, Valin, Elzinga, Benistant, Walvoort, Adamo, Karssemakers in 10th.
McLellan into third as he passed Langenfelder and Adamo passed Walvoort for eight place. On lap 12 De Wolf had extended his lead to 12 seconds and McLellan was 22 seconds back in third place. De Wolf wins the moto from Coenen and McLellan. The podium was de Wolf, McLellan and Coenen.
