Round seven of the 2026 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship headed to Duns Motopark, just over the Scottish border. The hard-packed track features a fast flowing and technical layout. Oriol Oliver made his return to racing this weekend with the goal of scoring as many points as possible for championship. For Gyan Doensen the goal was to keep the championship fight alive and carry the momentum from the previous round.

Doensen was first out for timed practice and put in a lap good enough for second fastest. Oliver followed up and finished time practice in fifth. MX2 race one Gyan put himself in a strong position off the start and was running around eighth place on the opening lap. During the first few laps Gyan stayed in this position looking for opportunities to make passes, but with everyone running similar lap times it was difficult to make a move.

By halfway through the race Gyan had worked his way up to sixth and caught the rear wheel of Mustoe. With just half a lap remaining Gyan, Mustoe and Keith were running wheel-to-wheel and Gyan made a brilliant move, passing both riders in one corner and then went on to pass Searle with two corners to go which took him from sixth to third, which was an incredible final lap.

MX1 Race One got underway with Oriol grabbing the holeshot but within a few corners he dropped back to third, with Mewse leading the way and Watson sitting in second.

From there Oriol settled into a very controlled race keeping his lap times consistent and managing the gap to Gilbert behind. As the moto progressed Oriol began to look more comfortable and found his flow around the track, giving him a valuable confidence boost. He maintained his position all the way to the chequered flag to secure a strong third-place finish and head into the final race of the day with plenty of confidence.

The final MX2 race of the day saw Gyan make another strong start settling inside the top five. Within just a few laps he had worked his way into third and began to bide his time, choosing not to take unnecessary risks as he focused on putting together a strong and consistent race.

As the moto progressed Gyan slowly closed the gap to Heyman in second and Keith at the front. Showing his fitness and speed towards the closing stages Gyan made his move on Heyman with just two laps remaining to move into second.

He then set his sights on Keith closing the gap even further and setting his fastest lap of the race on the final lap, despite his late charge Gyan couldn't quite make the pass for the moto win crossing the line in second. However his consistent riding and 3-2 moto results were enough to secure the overall victory.

MX1 Race Two saw Oriol make another great start grabbing the holeshot and leading the field for the opening two laps. On lap two Mewse made his move to take the lead with Oriol settling into second.

Oriol found his flow around the technical circuit which suits his riding style, looking comfortable he kept his focus on himself and continued to put in consistent laps. Behind him Watson was closing the gap and by halfway through the race he made the pass on Oriol. From there Oriol controlled the gap to Gilbert behind and maintained his position through to the chequered flag. He crossed the line in third to secure third overall putting together a solid performance despite still not being back to 100% fitness.

Gyan Doensen:“It was decent day at Duns with back to back wins at the British Championship, the track was very technical and I had some fun racing. A big thank you to the team and I am excited for Sweden this weekend.”

Oriol Oliver:“The plan for the British Championship at Duns was to get as many points as possible for the championship and that is what we did. Riding wise I couldn’t show the best version of myself, but we will take the third overall and move onto the final round.”

Shaun Simpson - Team Manager:“It was great to be back to full force this weekend at Duns with both Gyan and Oriol. The track was in great condition, but the weather was windy and quite cold in comparison to what we’ve been used to for the last few months. Gyan didn’t win a moto but rode strong and calculated in both races finding late pace to come through the pack and secure the overall victory. It’s nice to see Gyan gaining some consistency this last few weeks. It was brilliant to have Oriol back, even though he isn’t 100% he took two great starts and rode steady to finish 3rd on the podium. We couldn’t have asked for more considering he’s been out for the last 3 weeks. We are all Looking forward to the next MXGP in Sweden this weekend”

The entire Gabriel SS24 KTM team leaves Duns happy after a fantastic day with a double podium and Gyan securing another overall victory. Gyan rode strong all day putting together two impressive motos and showcasing his speed, fitness and consistency throughout the races.

His 1-1 results saw him claim the overall with 42 points just one point ahead of Brookes and Keith in third with 40 points. For Oriol he also put together two solid rides to secure third overall with 40 points, he fought right to the end and showed great determination throughout both motos. Watson finished second overall with 44 points, while Mewse took the overall victory after claiming two moto wins.

In the MX2 Championship Charlie Heyman secured the title this weekend a big congratulations to him and the entire SC Sport Homes team. Gyan remains second in the standings holding a 34-point advantage over Tommy Searle who sits third with just one round remaining. In the MX1 Championship Oriol also remains second in the standings with the gap to championship leader Mewse is now 21 points, while Oriol holds a 15-point advantage over Watson in third. With just one round remaining the fight for the championship is still firmly alive.
