Spaniard, Guillem Farres has won the opening MX2 moto in Italy today. Showing improved speed every week, the Triumph factory rider continues to cut back the championship lead of Sasha Coenen, who finished in second place, with defending champion, Simon Langenfelder in third place. Ray Archer image

Guillem Farres: I didn't get the best start, but yesterday we showed good speed coming from last to second. I started fifth or sixth and I knew it would be hard, so I managed myself and won the moto.

Championship points are now Sacha Coenen 409 points, Guillem Farres 374pts, Simon Längenfelder 363pts, Camden McLellan 348pts and Mathis Valin 334pts.

MX2 Moto One

Langenfelder with the lead early in the opening MX2 moto, with Mikula second, then Lata, Coenen, Valin, Janis Reisulis, Karssemakers, Farres, Everts and Zanchi in 10th place. McLellan 11th and Zanchi 12th.

McLellan a problem as he dropped back to 17th spot and his team-mate, Farres into fifth place, with Coenen now in sixth position. Farres also passed Reisulis and into fourth spot. Top ten on lap two was Langenfelder, Mikula, Lata, Farres, Reisulis, Coenen, Grau, Valin, Everts and Karssemakers.

Farres continues to show dazzling speed on this hard pack circuit, as he passed Lata to get to third in the moto. Everts was up to 8th and Coenen also making moves as he passed Reisulis and was suddenly fifth. McLellan back up to 13th spot.

Coenen going after Farres as he passed Lata and into fourth spot, and just three seconds behind the Spaniard. Top ten on lap four was Langenfelder, Farres, Mikula, Coenen, Reisulis, Valin, Lata, Everts, Zanchi and Grau.

Farres into the lead as he passed Langenfelder and Coenen all over the German. Mikula was fourth, then Reisulis, Everts, Lata, Valin, Grau and Zanchi 10th. Everts into fifth place with a pass on Reisulis and Everts moved past Mikula to go into fourth place.

Everts closing in on Coenen and Langenfelder and Farres 4.4 ahead of Langenfelder. Lap nine and it was Farres, Langenfelder, Coenen, Everts, Mikula, Reisulis, Valin, Grau, Lata and Zanchi. Langenfelder, Coenen and Everts getting closer to Farres, with the gap between first and second now three seconds.

Lap 13 and the lead by Farres was around five seconds, with Langenfelder and Coenen again battling for second place, with Everts a little further back. Coenen into second place with a nice pass on Langenfelder and Everts also close to the German. Farres wins from Coenen and Langenfelder.
