Febvre Wins Home GP
Kawasaki factory rider and red plate owner, Romain Febvre gave his huge French crowd something to cheer about with a 2-1 result and victory in the MXGP of France, scoring his 24th GP victory in his career.
The win also maintained the points lead of Febvre, but Lucas Coenen, who went 1-2 and also won the Saturday qualifier ended the weekend with more points, but not the GP win. Third overall was Ducati factory rider, Jeremy Seewer with 5-3.
Championship points are now Romain Febvre 441 points, Lucas Coenen 394pts, Tim Gajser 305pts, Glenn Coldenhoff 302pts, and Ruben Fernandez 292pts.
Romain Febvre: Big win in France for sure. Everyone wanted that I win and I had a good first moto from a bad start and that second moto I had a better start, behind Lucas, and he was riding really good and I looked for a line to pass him, but he made a mistake and I got him. You can not imagine who good I feel about this win. Amazing to win at home, with so many fans. We were lucky with the weather. I have no words to win like this, in both races and it means a lot to me.
Lucas Coenen: We put on a charge and a good show for the fans. First moto I struggled with arm pump and I hoped not to get it in the second one, but I got it again and then I tried to recover from the arm pump, but P2 is okay and a podium is good. I am going to get some good races in.
MXGP Moto two
Seewer with the lead in the second MXGP moto, but Coenen quickly into the lead with a nice pass on the Ducati rider. Seewer second, then Febvre, Gifting, Bonacorsi, Coldenhoff, Jonass, Fernandez, Herlings, and Geerts 10th. Febvre into the lead, right in front of the huge hillside crowd. Herlings moved past Jonass to get into eight place.
Febvre not letting Coenen get too far ahead as he chases the moto one winner. Lap three and the gap between Coenen and Febvre was just a second. Herlings into seventh with a pass on Fernandez and the Spaniard was able to get him back, but then Herlings again passed the HRC man.
Lap five and the gap was just a bike length as Febvre continued to push the Belgian rider. The top ten was Coenen, Febvre, Seewer, Gifting, Bonacorsi, Coldenhoff, Herlings, Fernandez, Geerts and Vlaanderen. Amazing battle for the big crowd as Febvre pushing so hard to pass Coenen.

Febvre pushed up alongside Coenen, but the KTM man held onto the lead, but Febvre really putting huge pressure on Coenen. Herlings a mistake and dropped to 10th place. The troublesome return from injury continues to make life tough for the Dutchman.
Amazing battle as Febvre pushing and Coenen defending. The youngest man in the class against one of the oldest, but the intensity is just brilliant. Coenen will not give up his lead easy. Seewer in third some 4.5 seconds back and Herlings back into ninth with a pass on Geerts.
Febvre into the lead and the place is just abuzz as the huge audience applaud. Coenen shaking his arm and maybe again suffering arm-pump from the huge pressure. Top ten on lap 10 was Febvre, Coenen, Seewer, Gifting, Bonacorsi, Coldenhoff, Fernandez, Herlings, Vlaanderen and Geerts. Coenen not giving up and maybe the chance to get his arms back in order.
Lap 13 and while Febvre led, Coenen not allowing him to get away and surely looking to challenge again before the end. Coenen back into Febvre and Renaux crashed for the second time in the moto. The top ten was Febvre, Coenen, Seewer, Gifting, Bonacorsi, Fernandez, Herlings, Coldenhoff, Vlaanderen and Geerts.
Febvre turned it up a little and the gap was suddenly two seconds with Seewer 10 seconds back in third and Herlings into sixth position with a pass on Fernandez. Impressive from the Benelux riders with three Dutchmen and two Belgians inside the top ten. Little over two laps remaining and the gap is 1.5 seconds. Febvre wins the moto and the GP. Coenen second in both and Seewer third in the moto and the overall.
