Herlings Sensational - ADAC
Five time World motocross champion Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM factory team scores the maximum number of points at the ADAC MX Masters. Jörgen-Matthias Talviku and Roan Van de Moosdijk on the podium. Max Nagl defends championship lead.
"The course lived up to its reputation: it was very sandy and challenging in Dreetz, which I liked very much. I wasn't satisfied with my starts, but I was satisfied with my riding and the results.
At the 150th anniversary event of the ADAC MX Masters, Jeffrey Herlings (NL/Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) lived up to his role as favourite in Dreetz. With three clear race wins, he won the event classification ahead of Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) and Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/Triumph Aqva Racing). Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek) remains the leader in the championship after fourth place in Dreetz.
Jeffrey Herlings was in a class of his own on the very challenging sand track. Already in the qualification he proved his skills as Acerbi's Best Qualifier. In all three races, he was in second place early on, then studied the leader's tracks for a few laps before taking the lead and building up a clear lead until the finish. In the first race on Saturday, Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing) was initially in the lead before he had to admit defeat to Herlings. In the two races on Sunday, Max Nagl won the Red Bull Holeshots and finished second twice.
Roan Van de Moosdijk showed his strength with two third places in the first two races. In the third race, he was again in third position until the last third of the race, before crossing the finish line in sixth place after a crash. With second place in the overall result of Dreetz, Van de Moosdijk also moved up to second place in the table.
"This is my third podium result in a row, I'm satisfied with this consistency. However, I'm annoyed that bad third runs so far have prevented me from achieving even better results. But with second place in Dreetz, I improved and improved in the championship. That makes me positive with regard to the next race in Bielstein," Van de Moosdijk summed up.
Jörgen-Matthias Talviku improved over the course of the weekend and impressed with his first overall podium in the ADAC MX Masters. After fifth place in the first race behind Marcel Stauffer (A/Osicka MX Team), he finished fourth in the second race and finished the last race in third place.
He thus secured third position in the event standings ahead of Nagl and Lukas Platt (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), who achieved his best result of the weekend with fourth place in the third race.
"After a year of racing in the USA, a change of brand and moving up to the 450cc machine, I am very happy with the development I have made together with my team this season and the setup we have found. That makes me very proud," Talviku beamed.
Max Nagl now leads the championship ahead of Van de Moosdijk, Spies, Talviku and Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team). "We have made a big step forward, and that makes me confident for the coming races," explained Nagl.
All races on both days of the event can be streamed as re-livestreams or in individual races free of charge via the playlist ADAC MX Masters on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel. The full results of the weekend can be found at adac.de/mx-masters retrievable.
