Herlings - Remaining British Rounds

Red Bull KTM Factory rider has mentioned today (during the live stream), that he will do the complete British championship, meaning he will do the final two rounds. The British championship races, have been a major part of the Dutchman’s success in MXGP and “The Bullet” is enjoying his time in the UK.

To win a British championship would be a goal for Herlings, but also testing new parts for his KTM, as he did today, and it helps make his chances of beating the likes of Jorge Prado and Tim Gajser in Sweden next week, a little bit better.

Jeffrey Herlings: Basically, to do all the remaining rounds, I think two after this one, I haven’t spoken to KTM about it, but I don't think it will be a problem. I would love to win a British championship. We have an updated bike this weekend, and its great to see how it is in race situations, and I will use the bike in moto one and a race like this is a perfect test race.

Conrad, I have mentioned when he is in England, he is super good and fast and he was also good in Lommel, don’t get me wrong. Usually, I come here in February and its faster now and less muddy. The older you get, the more difficult to come back from major injuries and everyone racing has them.

I am feeling good, and it took a long time to get back to my old speed, and I kept racing and racing and I am racing every single weekend more or less and I enjoy it and it helped me, I did the Dutch championship, I will do the entire British championship and having Conrad here, its good for the GPs. You can practice every single day, and there is nothing like racing, the adrenaline and 40 people on the start, you can’t get that in practice.

Obviously at some point I was 70 points down (in the MXGP points) and I had a DNF and lost a lot of points, and it is what it is. I am now 38 behind and there is a light in the tunnel, and if I can win Sweden, and not lose points, the championship is more realistic. If I lose more than 10 points in Sweden, then the championship would be over. When I drove to the truck, after the first moto in Lommel, I thought to myself, I smashed that, but success is just the last race, success comes quick and goes quick, but last weekend I was good.

When I was young, I took risks, and you want good doctors at the races and this sport is high risk and you try and avoid getting hurt and I turn 30 in September, and I might have two or three or maybe four and then its done. It a lot of emotions up, because I have been doing this since I was a kid.
