Herlings vs Tomac 2017

Posted on May 25, 2023

There was no doubt, at the end of the 2017 MXGP championship, while Antonio Cairoli celebrated his 9th World title and Eli Tomac his AMA 450cc championship, Jeffrey Herlings was sweeping the World with his sensational speed and desire to beat everyone and being called the fastest man on the planet.

After losing yet another chance to battle for a World title due to injury, the KTM factory rider flew to America to race the final round of the 2017 AMA Nationals. It was similar to the 2007 MXdN at Budds Creek were the Euro's were destroyed by the much faster Ryan Villpoto and Ricky Carmichael, but this time, it was Herlings going 1-1 in the battle for victory on the American track. The Bullet completely dominated the AMA riders and saw the US media hide under a table, similar to our media in 2007.

A week later at the WW Ranch, Herlings continued his domination, by going 2-1 for first overall at the USGP. The story of Herlings domination is told in this cool video below, by Ash Sowman. Also another video, a bit older from WD840 MX from that Ironman event.
