Jeffrey Herlings - Three Questions

Five time world motocross champion, Jeffrey Herlings showed last weekend in Turkey, that he is still, when fit, the fastest man in Grand Prix racing.

Picking up his 111th Grand Prix win, and being the quickest often in the practice sessions, the Flying Dutchman, despite being at the back-end of his career, just continued to take GP victories and extend his legend.

I for one cannot wait until 2026 and see Herlings in a totally different situation and I have already said it a few times and I truly believe it, if Herlings gets on with his bike in 2026, we might just see the best Jeffrey Herlings ever, and that is saying something as he reachs the end of what has been an unbelievble career.

The Bullet was a guest on the Studio Show in Turkey and as always, he was a great interview (does he ever do a bad one), and the first question is about his victory and then two from Lisa and Paul from the Saturday studio show.

On the Victory in Turkey and number 111

Super-pleased with this win. For a Dutch rider it’s a difficult track; one of the most difficult and very hard to pass but we managed to get it done and the weekend went better than I expected. We made some good changes for the elevation so a shout out to KTM for providing me with such a good bike. 111 now, so let’s go to China and to the final two. Let’s try and finish the year as strong as we can.

Lisa Leyland asked about Arnhem and the battle with Lucas Coenen

Arnhem was tough, especially Lucas. I had his speed, you could see that in timed practice, but I didn’t have his fitness, just because, after Lommel I didn’t ride again for a week, then a week training for Sweden and a week for Arnhem, but did you see how rough that track was, and it was super warm, like 25 to 28. So, I wasn’t as fit as Lucas, so to maintain that speed, was super difficult, so when I cross the finish line, my tongue was between the front wheel. I was done.

Paul Malin and Lisa Leyland asked about who wins the MXGP championship in 2025 (he said he thinks Febvre)

Experience I think. For me, if Romain doesn’t win this championship this year, I doubt he will win one again. Because of his age also. Next year I hope to be part of it again, Tim should be a part of it, Lucas, probably Kay De Wolf will go up, I guess. So, it will only get more difficult for him. He gets 34 at the end of the year, so it won’t be easier for him. If he has to do it, he has to do it now, actually, within the next 15 days. If I had to put 100euro’s on anyone, it would be Romain.
