Red Bull GasGas factory rider Jorge Prado has shown brilliance once again with a magnificent 2-1 showing in China today and picked up the 48th GP win in his career. Having entered China 14 points behind Gajser in the points, he made a huge effort for his fourth World motocross championship.

The Spaniard not only passed former red plate man Tim Gajser in the title race, but extended the championship points lead to seven with just one round remaining and that round will be played out in the homeland of the defending champion.

Prado was again, so smooth and mistake free in what was just another moment in his special career. Second overall was Romain Febvre with 1-3 and third Jeffrey Herlings with 3-4. Championship points are now Jorge Prado 943 points, Tim Gajser 936pts and Jeffrey Herlings 895pts.

Jorge Prado:

I mean, this is motocross, and anything can happen, I also lost points in Italy and it can happen to anyone. He (Gajser) went down a few times and he made the possibility of breaking something and it was a mistake I could take advantage of. I couldn’t pass Romain or Jeremy for a long time (in the opening moto), and then I could pass Romain, and we changed positions so many times, but second was good enough. My goal is to get the holeshot and I have good experience here and if I get the holeshot, I can take the win.

MXGP Moto Two

Prado with the led the second MXGP moto from Gajser, Fernandez, Guillod, Febvre, Pancar, Herlings, Coldenhoff, Horgmo and Bogers. Renaux a problem as he slowed and back in last place after crashing with Seewer. Waters into 10th place and Gibbs in 12th, so the Aussies well placed. Seewer out of the race and possible an injury as he held his shoulder or arm.

Gajser not letting Prado get away as they go for the moto win and all important World championship points. Herlings still struggling in sixth place behind Pancar and ahead of Guillod. Lap two the top ten was Prado, Gajser, Fernandez, Febvre, Pancar, Herlings, Bonacorsi, Bogers, Guillod and Waters in 10th still. Waters moved past Coldenhoff and showing great speed.

On lap four the lead by Prado was 2.3 seconds with Fernandez 8.4 off the leader, then Febvre, Pancar, Herlings, Bonacorsi, Bogers, Coldenhoff, and Guadagnini. Waters dropped to 12th as both Guadagnini and Guillod moved past him.

Lap seven and the lead by Prado over Gajser was two seconds with Fernandez now 15 seconds back in third, then Febvre, Herlings, Pancar, Bonacorsi, Coldenhoff, Bogers and Guadagnini in 10th. Prado keeping his lead around two seconds with Herlings trying to get around Fernandez and Febvre not that far ahead of those two.

Herlings into fourth place as he passed Fernandez and the lead by Prado over Gajser was 1.8 seconds. 13 laps in and the gap was 2.4 seconds and it really seems like Prado has it in total control and might just be trying to tempt Gajser to make a mistake. Then it was 2.7 seconds. Prado wins the moto, the GP and heads to Spain in two weeks with the red plate once again.
