Reisulis showed big improvement at the last round of the MX2 world championship, with Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 rider delivering his best performance of the season so far with a fine fifth overall at round five of the 2026 FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship. Racing at the hardpack, tight and twisty Pietramurata circuit in Italy, the Latvian posted two consistent fifth place finishes to secure his strong result.

“Saturday I wasn’t feeling completely comfortable on the track. The bike felt good, but I just couldn’t quite link everything together and find my flow through the corners. On Sunday things improved. In the first moto I got a decent start, made some passes, and stayed focused throughout the race. In the second moto I didn’t have the best start, but I worked my way forward again and was pushing hard to fight for the podium. In the end, we just came up a little short, but there are plenty of positives to take away from here and I was only a small step away from being on the podium.”

Despite feeling a little detuned after his crash on Saturday, K. Reisulis bounced back in style, delivering improved results across the two races on Sunday. Following his 11th-place finish in Race One, the 20-year-old started 10th in Race Two and immediately made passes on his way towards the front of the field. In an exciting conclusion to the race, he withstood pressure from Mathis Valin behind him, then moved into fifth at the expense of Guillem Farres, who fell on the penultimate lap. Placing fifth marked a strong ride for the elder Reisulis, who secured eighth on the day and moves up to eighth in the series standings.

“The first moto wasn’t the easiest, as I was still dealing with a small injury from yesterday, but I did my best to fight through it. The second moto was much better though. The track was really tough with a lot of ruts and braking bumps, but I managed to work my way up to sixth and then into fifth in the final laps. To finish fifth in these conditions is something to build on, so I’m happy with the progress and I’m looking forward to the next round.”

Now, with a month before the next round in France, the young Latvian will be working hard and looking to get himself even further up the MX2 championship points.
