Kevin Horgmo and Trentino
Kevin Horgmo has a tough day at the office in Trentino last weekend, finishing in 15th overall with 19-11 scores, and like so many riders, found himself on the ground often around the tricky little Italian circuit. In the championship picture, the likeable Norwegen is also 15th on 69 points, but is more than capable of moving a lot closer to the top ten.
Horgmo is currently competing for Team Honda Motoblouz SR Motul for the 2026 MXGP season. This marks his third consecutive year with the French-based squad led by Josse Sallefranque. Below is how he felt about his experience.

Kevin Horgmo: A weekend in Trentino with a little too many crashes and a result that doesn't quite reflect the level I feel I have inside. The speed was there all weekend, but I didn't get the most out of it when it mattered.
Already at training and time quality things feel very good. Times were extremely tight only 2 seconds up to best time only lasted till 17. place. It says a little about the level this year. At the same time, I felt like I had a lap time that I could drive several times in a row, so I was confident this would be a good weekend.

In the heat of qualifying I got a rough start after hitching with another driver right after the starting gate and crashed hard. I was far behind and started the drive off 10-15 seconds behind last, but drove steadily up throughout the heat. Lap times were level with the top 5-8 and I made it all the way up to 13. place, and right behind 12. a place in the finish line. It gave a very good feeling and confirmed that both the body, the bike and the speed are right.
On the night of Sunday it rained and the course changed a lot. From hard and smooth with sketchy dumps on Saturday, to looser and more tracks on Sunday, but also harder to drive past.
In the warm-up I had a very good round going, with sector times that could have held around the top 5, but crashed in the last sector.
In the first heat I got a bad start and ended up around 15. –20. place. Already at the first round I was pushed off the field, lost my foot by the footrests and crashed. Then it's going to be hard. I had to start another heat with a drive from far back of the field, but on a course where it was even harder to pass, it was limited on how much I could do. I worked my way up to 19. space, but it's way below the level I know I have in.
In the second heat I got a better start and was quickly up around 11. place come up at 10. space in the middle of the road. I tried to attack for 9. the place almost the last half of the heat, and spent a lot of effort on it, but didn't get past. In a last attempt at an overtake, I made a mistake and lost my seat instead. It ended with 11. place.
It's a little frustrating, because I know the pace is there to fight in the top 10 every heat, and maybe even higher with a good start. On a track like Trentino, the start is crucial and there I still lack some stability.
At the same time, there are a lot of positive things to take with you. The physique is good, the feeling on the bike is good, and the level is there. Now it's all about making everything work out and starting to get the results again.
Now it's one month until the next World Cup round. In the meantime, there will be two rounds in the French championship before we are ready again.
