Lacapelle Marival - March 21

Posted on November 16, 2020

As soon as the French and World Championship calendars have been released, the club of Lacapelle Marival (France) fixed the date of their Masters of Motocross on Sunday 21 of March.

Since a couple of years now it’s in Lacapelle Marival that the International Motocross season starts in France, following a long tradition after Beaucaire and Valence. Despite the loss of their long time president a few weeks ago, the Lacapelle Marival club members have decided to continue to organize the Masters of Motocross, and fixed to March 21 the date of the 2021 event.

“As all organisers we don’t know what will be the sanitary situation in four months, but we had to fix a date and start working. It was important to announce a date to the teams and also organizers all over Europe,” says vice president Vincent Ayroles who got confirmation of the French calendars this weekend.

“Finally and as we do every year, our date is just two weeks’ prior the first Grand Prix who will take place in Oman early in April. We didn’t want to clash with another club who organise on March 14 the French Elite opening round, and we know that teams don’t like to race just a week prior the first GP so March 21 was the best date for us.”

Impossible to have any name to announce four months’ prior the event, and just a few weeks after the last round of the 2020 GP. Winner at Lacapelle in February Tom Vialle is the new MX2 champion, while Tim Gajser renewed his MXGP title. Tim never raced in Lacapelle and for sure the club would like to see him racing against many top riders.

“Every year we have some good feedback from teams and riders after the race, and so we have good relationship with most of them. That’s really important, and we work every year to improve the facilities here – track but also paddock and spectator’s area – as we want everyone to enjoy their stay in Lacapelle. We already met many World Champions, and we hope to welcome even more in the future,” ends Vincent.

With no French GP in 2020, and with the 2021 French GP scheduled in October, Lacapelle will be the single event with top GP riders so early in the season and for sure fans will not want to miss
