Langenfelder Perfect in UK

  • Race Report

German rider Simon Langenfelder of the Red Bull KTM factory team is looking more and more like the man who should be crowned World MX2 champion come late August, early September. Going 1-1-1 for the weekend and with a 52 point lead over second placed man, Andrea Adamo (who went 10-4) going into Finland in a few weeks time. Defending champion, Kay De Wolf went 7-8 and is now miles behind the series leader, 70 points in fact.

As we sit at the end of June, time is running out for defending champion De Wolf and former MX2 champion, Adamo. Already with a huge points advantage, that advantage by Langenfelder is growing by the minute.

Second in the moto and overall was Liam Everts of the Nestaan Husqvarna factory team, with Monster Energy Yamaha factory rider, Thibault Benistant in third position in the moto and Sasha Coenen third in the overall.

Simon Langenfelder: This second moto the track was drying and faster and I made the holeshot and finished first again. I was nervous in the final moments, maybe because of two weeks ago (when he threw away a GP win in the final lap). It was went perfect a great weekend. Now a two week break and start the last push.

Liam Everts: I felt that my first race was better and the riding was good. Second moto a good jump and riding well. I tried to stay with Simon, and its a good confidence booster.

Sasha Coenen: Not the easiest weekend, but finishing with the podium is good. Second moto got hit by a rock and fought on. You cannot find a place to pass on this track. We finished P3, which is better than nothing.

MX2 Moto Two

Langenfelder with the holeshot in moto two of the MX2 riders. Everts was second, then Benistant, Oliver, Valin, Farres, Coenen, Adamo, Karssemakers, McLellan, Braceras 11th. Oliver down in the opening lap. De Wolf in 12th place.

Lap two and it was Langenfelder with a three second lead over Everts, then came Benistant, Farres, Coenen, Adamo, Valin, de Wolf, McLellan and Braceras 10th. Adamo moved past Coenen for fifth position and Valin was all over Coenen as well.

Lap seven and not a lot happening in the second MX2 moto, as the top ten was Langenfelder, Everts, Benistant, Farres, Adamo, Coenen, Valin, de Wolf, McLellan and Braceras. Adamo working hard to move into fourth place as he hounded Farres.

If ever you needed to take a nap, this race seems like the time to do it as there is little going on and while Braceras and Lata battled for 10th place, everyone else was doing their thing and large gaps between most of the top ten riders. Bring on the sand of Finland, Belgium and The Netherlands. Langenfelder wins from Everts and Benistant.
