Langenfelder Wins in Italy
Red Bull KTM factory rider Simon Langenfelder has won the Italian International today with 1-1 performances. The German rider had to work hard for his win, as many riders showed blazing speed on the Italian hard pack. The other KTM factory riders, Andrea Adamo and Sasha Coenen also impressed, as did HRC men, Ferruccio Zanchi and Valerio Lata. Second overall was Adamo with 2-2 scored and third was Zanchi with 4-3.
In the championship, it was Adamo with 91 points, Langenfelder 81 pts and Lata 76pts. Victories all round for the Red Bull KTM factory team as their riders continue to push through in tough times for the company.
Sasha Coenen with the holeshot and lead in the second MX2 moto and behind him came Zanchi, Langengelder, Manucci, Adamo, Mikula, Fredsoe, Valk, Lata, Ernecker and Rispoli. On lap one it was Coenen, Zanchi, Langenfelder, Adamo, Mikula, Fredsoe, Valk, Lata, Manucci, and Ernecker.
Coenen not getting away from Zanchi who is hounding the young Belgian, and in third is Langenfelder. After three laps the lead by Coenen over Zanchi was 1.2 seconds with Langenfelder right on the back wheel of the HRC rider and Adamo also close to the front guys. Valk was 5.6 seconds back in fifth place.
Great battle up front with Adamo and Langenfelder pushing each other as they try and chaase down the two front guys, who were getting away a little. Zanchi all over Coenen for the lead and the top four just two seconds apart. Adamo really pushing to get past Langenfelder for third place.
Coenen not able to shake off the three behind him, and the pace of the MX2 class was amazing, with the top four really pushing each other harder and harder. The top guys started coming across lapped riders and that allowed Zanchi to be right onto Coenen and these two were side by side for a lot of this stage of the race and right behind them, Langenfelder and Adamo were fighting to get past the HRC man.
Brilliant motocross as Zanchi takes the lead, but Coenen not giving up as he continued to fight and Langenfelder was all over the Belgian youngster. Adamo into third place, but Langenfelder tried to fight back and then Zanchi slipped over in a corner and handed the lead by to Coenen.
Langenfelder into the lead and on lap eight and Adamo doing his best to also get past the Belgian charger. Adamo into second place and with eight minutes remaining in the race, Langenfelder was trying to make a break from Adamo, with Coenen slowing somewhat. Lapped riders causing problems for the leaders (really need to be a rule change for lapped riders).
On lap nine Langenfelder held a 2.6 second lead over Adamo, then came Coenen, Zanchi, Valk, Mikula, Lata, Fredsoe, Manucci, Escandell in 10th. Lap 11 and the lead was less than a second between Langenfelder and Adamo and Coenen and Zanchi were spreading out now, Coenen five seconds off the leader and Zanchi seven seconds. Langenfelder wins the moto and the overall, but the International Italian championship, which ran over two rounds went to Adamo.
