Defending World MX2 champion, Simon Langenfelder has won the Saturday qualification race for the MX2 class with a solid performance after starting in third place. The German who is starting to show his championship winning form had some luck as series leader, Guillem Farres crashed out of the race and scored zero points and might have picked up an injury.

Simon Langenfelder: We made a change to the bike and we were not sure it would work, but it did, felt much better than the sessions this morning. I felt good out there to get the qualification win and I am looking forward to the races.

MX2 Qualification Race

Farres with the lead early in the MX2 qualification race but then crashed and dropped back to near last. That crash handed the lead to Sasha Coenen, who has recovered well from his shoulder injury. Next up was Langenfelder, Everts, McLellan, Janis Reisulis, Lata, Karssemakers, Mikula, Karlis Reisulis and Grau. Farres out of the race after yet another crash as he collided with a bike laying in the track. Let’s hope it was a bike issue and not an injury.

Coenen a two second lead over Langenfelder, and Everts 4.3 back. Langenfelder then caught Coenen and close to the leader. Great battle between Coenen and Langenfelder and the German took the lead.

Langenfelder quickly gapped Coenen with a two second lead and Everts was four seconds back in third, then McLellan, Janis Reisulis, Karssemakers, Mikula, Grau, Lata and Gundersen in 10th. Karlis Reisulis a crash and he dropped well back.

Everts catching Coenen for second place and made the pass on lap five to be 4.8 seconds behind Langenfelder. McLellan also all over Coenen as the Belgian starts to really struggle on this tricky Swedish track. McLellan passed Coenen and Reisulis also trying to get past Coenen.

Lap seven the lead by Langenfelder was 3.6 seconds over Everts, with McLellan 6.6 behind the lead. Coenen back to fifth place as Reisulis passed the Belgian. Three laps remaining and the lead by Langenfelder remained 3.5 and Everts not able to close the gap. Langenfelder wins it from Everts and McLellan.
