Langenfelder Wins Turkey
Red plate man, Simon Langenfelder has won the Grand Prix of Turkey and gained a slight advantage in the MX2 World championship with two rounds remaining. Langenfelder went 3-1, De Wolf 2-2 and Sasha Coenen scored 1-4 results for third overall.
Simon Langenfelder: First of all, to my parents at home, I think my dad had a heart attack, he was so nervous. I am so happy to bring it home. It wasn’t an easy one and I had to fight hard. I had some bad weekends and ready to go to China now.
Kay De Wolf: I just ran out of time and I am sure I was the fastest. Looking forward to China and Australia.
Championship points are now Simon Längenfelder 833 points, Kay de Wolf 821pts, Andrea Adamo 771pts, Sacha Coenen 701pts, Thibault Benistant 603pts. So, Langenfelder with a 12 point lead over de Wolf with two rounds remaining.
MX2 Moto Two
Coenen a huge holeshot and Farres in second, then Langenfelder, de Wolf, McLellan, Valin, Everts, Reisulis, Benistant and Karssemakers. Farres into the lead and charging on the Triumph machine. Coenen back into the lead, but Farres fighting to get it back again.
Lap one it was Farres, Coenen, Langenfelder, McLellan, Valin, De Wolf, Everts, Benistant, Lata and Reisulis. Adamo in 13th place as he continues to struggle in Turkey. McLellan down as he clashed with Langenfelder.
Lap three and Farres continued to lead from Coenen, Langenfelder, Valin, de Wolf, Benistant, Everts, Lata, McLellan, and Reisulis in 10th. Adamo still 13th. Lap six and the lead by Farres was 2.4 seconds over Langenfelder, who had passed Coenen, and the German all over Farres for the lead.
De Wolf back in fifth position and finally, the KTM rider making an advantage over the Dutchman. Adamo crashed and dropped out of 11th and his weekend just going from worse, to worse. Adamo back in 14th place now. After seven laps it was Farres, Langenfelder, Coenen, de Wolf, Valin, Benistant, Everts, McLellan, Lata and Reisulis. Langenfelder into the lead and de Wolf chasing Coenen for third place.
Exciting battle as De Wolf chasing both Coenen and Farres and trying to get to Langenfelder, who was seven seconds ahead. De Wolf moved past Coenen and now hunting Farres in second and Langenfelder five seconds further up the track.
Lap 13 and de Wolf into second place and the top ten was Langenfelder, de Wolf, Farres, Coenen, Everts, Valin, Benistant, McLellan, Lata and Adamo. De Wolf going after Langenfelder for the top spot in moto two. De Wolf all over Langenfelder for the moto and GP win as de Wolf pushing really hard, but Langenfelder held on to win the race and the overall victory.
