Lawrence - Climbing the Lists
With victory on the weekend, 22-year-old, Jett Lawrence picked up his fifth major AMA title, two AMA 450 motocross championships, two AMA 250 motocross championships and of course his AMA supercross championship.
He did this in the span of five years. If you want to add his two SMX championships, then its seven AMA titles. Let’s not count his two AMA 250 supercross championships, as these are really just regional championships.
He hasn’t had a single non-title winning year once he got the first one in 2021. In 2021, he won his first title in the 250 motocross, followed that up with defending that title in 2022, then won the AMA 450 title in 2023, along with the SMX championship, followed by the AMA 450 supercross championship in 2024, along with the SMX championship and this year, he is of course, the AMA 450 motocross championship.
He also has a total of 59 overall victories, these include his 250 supercross wins, with 13 in 250 SX, 14 in 250 MX, 9 in AMA 450 SX and 23 in AMA 450 motocross. That 59 wins place him ninth in the all-time list, three ahead of Jeff Ward, four ahead of fellow Aussie, Chad Reed and now just two behind 8th placed man, Ricky Johnson, who is on 61 wins.
Ahead of RJ and in reach of Lawrence in 2026 are Bob Hannah with 64 wins, Ryan Villopoto with 72 wins, and Ryan Dungey with 80 wins. Ahead of Dungey are just Jeremy McGrath 89 wins, Eli Tomac 97 wins, James Stewart 98 wins and of course, THE GOAT, Ricky Carmichael with 150 wins.
For all-time AMA motocross wins, Lawrence now has 37, could make it 38 next week. In that list, he recently passed Broc Glover who is on 35, Jeff Ward on 36 and is currently equal with Bob Hannah on those 37 wins. Ahead of Lawrence on the MX list are Eli Tomac 44, Ryan Dungey 46, James Stewart 48 and Ricky Carmichael 102. He can move to second on the list in 2026, if he has a similar season to 2025.
In the AMA motocross championship list, he is equal 7th with Ryan Dungey and Mike Kiedrowski with four titles each, and ahead of him are Villopoto, Tomac, Ward and Johnson with five MX titles, Glover with 6 and RC with 10. While RC might seem a little out of reach for now, it is hard not to see him at least get to Glover in second with those six titles.
