Liam Everts continues to take the Everts name to an even bigger legendary status, with victory at the 2026 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations. Just incredible, that a third generation of that famous motocross name wins the biggest prize in the sport and did so some 50 years after his grandfather, Harry won with Team Belgium in 1976 with legendary names of Roger De Coster and Gaston Rahier and one of the most successful MXdN riders Jaak van Velthoven.

Harry won again in 1979, and this time with De Coster, Andrea Malherbe and Ivan van den Broek. Liams father, won in 1995, 1997, 1998, 2003 and 2004 and is of course, the greatest Grand Prix rider of all time.

So, with 50 years since Harry's first victory and amazingly, 20 years ago that father Stefan showed his final brilliance at the Matterley Basin MXoN in 2006, beating the legendary James Stewart and it was so fitting that both Stefan and Harry were there, both very emotional and celebrating with Liam. As they both watched this very talented third generation rider take Belgium back to the very top of the motocross world. A place, they themselves had taken Belgium for 40 years.

Liam Everts: It’s unreal. I had no idea where we were on points, so I was just trying to keep pushing because I knew it was going to be really close. We had a mega day and I couldn’t have done it without Lucas and Sacha. To win this with Belgium after 13 years is something else, and with the history my dad and grandad have with this event, it makes it even more special. It’s been a long road, but we pulled it off together. I’m honestly lost for words - this feels amazing. I knew I was fast when I jumped on the 450 straight away. It was a technical track which suits me and I just rode really well. The boys put their faith in me to go inside in Race 3, I paid it back to them, took a good start and just rode with the guys up front. At the end I was pretty done the last three laps. I had no idea we were in the position to win, actually. It was only when I saw the guys on the pit lane that I noticed we had won, so that's unreal.
