We all remember the day Liam Everts was born, of course we do. It was the August 6, 2004, the Friday before the Namur Grand Prix. His father (Stefan) was the king of the MXGP class and going for yet another GP victory around the Citadelle. With the birth of his first child, Everts went out as a father, and of course won Namur. It was no surprise, he was undefeated there.

Now, some 21 years later that newborn is a contender himself. I don’t think anyone doubts, that Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider, Liam Everts has potential to be a World champion. The talented Belgian has already been in the position to fight for titles and on both occasions, but had struggled to maintain the momentum to stay in the championship hunt.

Six GP wins to his name, five race wins and 14 podiums, Everts has also finished fourth in the World on two occasions and 10th once. Already a bright career and at just 20 years of age, a mountain of pressure, he has often been able to control.

As a big fan of the Everts family, it is easy to cheer for this likeable racer and again sitting in fourth place in the MX2 championship points and 41 points behind third placed Kay De Wolf, and 31 points ahead of fifth places Sasha Coenen, you get the feeling it might be another fourth place in the World championship. Again, not a bad result and at 20 years of age, you do get the feeling, we will see him fight for World titles in his future.

In a class full of young talents and the three men above him, Simon Langenfelder, Andrea Adamo and Kay de Wolf all a similar age, you can also be sure Everts will be making improvements and changes as he ventures into a possible top three championship finish and hopefully in the near future, a World championship.
