Liam Everts - His First GP Win

There is no doubt, the arrival of Red Bull KTM Factory rider Liam Everts on the World scene was an epic one. Not unlike his grandfather and father, he was born to win, and on 10 and 11 June at the very difficult Teutschenthal circuit in Germany, he made his first major step on the road to a World motocross championship.

Sure, he has picked up EMX success and a podium in MX2 in Trentino in Italy, but winning a GP, that puts him into the motocross history books. His name might have been at the very bottom of the GP win list, but it didn’t take him long to add to that win in Germany, taking victories in The Netherlands and Turkey in 2023 and this year wins in Trentino and then Portugal.

Five GP wins, now that is really pushing him quickly up the all-time list. Already one GP win more than the great Belgian Rene Baeten, the 1958 World 500cc champion, the same amount as 1996 World 500cc champion, Shayne King, and one less than British 500cc World champion of 1979, Graham Noyce.

Circled by World champions, he will win many more GPs, that is assured and former World champions like John Van Den Berk (9), Greg Albertyn (12), Trampas Parker (13), Bill Nilsson (15), all legends of our sport and all in reach of the young Belgian. It might take a year or two, but it’s a good chance it happens.

Liam will head back to Teutschenthal this weekend, a track he won that first GP last year, and also a track his father won on occasions, the first time in 1998 and the last in his final season in 2006, so the place has good memories for the Everts family.

Take a look at the emotion in this video. Liam (or his social media person) placed the video on his social media today. For anyone who was lucky enough to see either his father or grandfather win title after title, then this is a nice one to watch.
