  • Race Report

Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider Lucas Coenen has won the Dutch GP with a 2-1 performance, breaking a Dutch domination with the Dutch riders winning the Women’s GP, the 125cc Euro round and of course, the first motos in MX2 and MXGP.

It was a brilliant performance by the Belgian, who gained a handful of points on de Wolf in the championship. The red plate man de Wolf finished fourth in the moto and second in the GP with 1-4 scores and third overall was Andrea Adamo with 4-2 finishes.

Championship points are now Kay de Wolf 777 points and Lucas Coenen 733pts, so a 44 point lead by the Dutchman. So still a handy lead heading to Switzerland next weekend.

Lucas Coenen: Good day, only the starts were bad. I hit the gate (in the second moto) and messed it up and Kay ran me wide and I was mad about that, but then I took advantage of Kay's mistake and now me and my team-mate first and second. Two motos, really bad starts, but it was tough to pass and second moto another bad start and then Kay made the mistake and I passed my brother, now onto Switzerland.

Kay De Wolf: The crash was my fault, but then we had some problems and I am just happy I brougth the bike home, it could have ended way worse than this. I am disappointed not to get the GP win in front of all these fans, but lucky to finish.

Lucas Coenen into the lead as he passed his brother Sasha, and De Wolf not too far back in third. De Wolf into second but four seconds off from Lucas in first. The gap now six seconds and Lucas Coenen in control, n fact a mistake by De Wolf and Sasha back in second, but de Wolf quickly passed him back, but they gap is now seven seconds to the leader.
