Lucas Loving Southwick
Lucas Coenen is on fire in Southwick as the teenage Belgian went out and put together some sensational laps round the sand circuit. Coenen eventually did a 1.53.903, with former world MXGP champion, Jorge Prado on a 1.55.139, more than a second slower. Coenen did less laps than anyone else, but still came out the quickest.
In what was a stunning 450 qualification, former or present Grand Prix riders dominated the top ten. Coenen came out and did the quickest lap early in the session in just his second lap of the on the track, and at one point, Coenen, Jorge Prado, Roan Van De Moosdijk and Cornelius were inside the top ten.
Of course, the Lawrence brothers and Dylan Ferrandis, who are also former GP riders, were also inside the top ten, as was Mikkel Haarup in different stages of the session. Stunningly, Haiden Deegan struggled to come to terms with the sand specialists, and he and Van De Moosdijk often sat swapping positions inside the top ten.
The top ten was eventually, Coenen, Prado, Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, Deegan, van de Moosdijk, R. J. Hampshire, Haarup, Garrett Marchbanks and Dylan Ferrandis.
