Max Magic On Gold Coast
Star Racing Yamaha factory rider, Max Anstie gets his 1-1-1 for victory at the Australian round of the World Supercross Championship, held in front of a sold-out crowd on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. The British veteran had a tougher time in the final race, but his perfect night was pretty much how his 2025 WSX championship has been all series long.
Max Anstie: That was awesome. Shane has been riding great and that is why he has the number one plate on his bike. It is so hot here, seems like its getting hotter the later it gets. Pumped with my riding and my team. The whole French crew helping me here and happy to be on the Gold Coast and I love Australia. Looking forward to next week in Sweden.
Shane McElrath: We are rebounding, we are working and Max is hitting his marks and we are playing catch up a little. My starts have been a problem but this last one, we were on it. I am having a blast here in Australia and we have some more travel to go in the series.
McElrath with the lead in the final SX2 race, with Anstie second, then Hicks, Schock, Park, Peters, Desprey, Thompson, Chisholm, Wageman and Lopes in 11th. The lead by McElrath was getting smaller as Anstie closed in and Schock into third place wit ha pass on Hicks.
Step by step, Anstie closed on the leader and suddenly, the Brit was right on the back wheel of the American on the Honda. Anstie went for a pass, but McElrath was blocking well, but Anstie being patient and waiting for the right moment.
Top ten was McElrath, Anstie, Pak, Schock, Hicks, Peters,Despray, Thompson, Bourdon and Wageman. Anstie into the lead and running away with it. Anstie wins it from McElrath and Park.
