McGrath On Prado - Opinion

It is amazing the interest that Jorge Prado has created with his 2025 season of drama. I really feel for the Spaniard, and as much as he blamed me a couple of times for saying I was negative in his interviews (I am never negative), I don’t mind the guy, and he is a four-time world champion.

One of the best riders to watch when he is on, and somebody who can bring a lot of positive attention to the sport, in Europe or America. I just hope 2026 works out for him.

What we do have with Prado though, he is very direct and probably a little spoilt when it comes to how he wants to be treated, and American’s don’t always go with the let’s be honest and say what we think. You probably have to be a little diplomatic with people who work for Kawasaki, and it seems Prado wasn’t that at all.

In saying that, I hope he can turn it all around and have a really good season in 2026 with KTM and get some respect back, because at the moment, I get the feeling, he is going to get a lot of negative vibes from the American public and media and it might be another tough season for the Grand Prix legend.

The King of Supercross, Jeremy McGrath had his opinion of the whole situation, and he was direct and to the point. McGrath, somebody who never complained about his bikes, even in his tough transition from Honda to Suzuki (he did mention how that all went after retirement), felt that Prado should have had more respect for the Kawasaki team.

Jeremy McGrath: I don’t know a lot about this situation, and it was painfully obvious he wasn’t trying and wanted to get fired. He came from Europe on a works KTM and there they can change anything, here we have a production deal, and the bikes are very different. In my opinion, he signed the contract, the bikes good, no complains when he signed the deal and then he gets his ass beat. Don’t point the finger at anyone else, handle it. To me, I don’t have to sugar coat it, it was BS how he treated Kawasaki and Monster. We know the real story now. I don’t know him, but as a fan, I know this stuff. Just be pro. You don’t start blaming other people, you just don’t. What you got inside. He is a world champion, if anyone who knows, he should know. I think a mistake he made, he shouldn’t have done supercross first, he should have stated with motocross. He got hurt, sort of riding hurt. It didn’t make much sense the way he did it and I get he wanted to show people what he could do, but his strategy was wrong, and it backfired on him. Talking bad about people who fed you, its poor taste.
