South African, Camden McLellan of the Triumph factory team has won the opening MX2 moto of the day with a flag to flag victory. It was a calm and controlled performance by McLellan and a big win for the relatively new team to the MXGP paddock. Second was Kay De Wolf after a last lap pass on Adamo and the Italian was third.

Camden McLellan: It felt amazing to get the holeshot and have fresh air in front. I could have paniced, and I thought Adamo was coming close. I want to thank my family and also the whole Triumph racing team.

Championship points are now as Kay de Wolf extended his lead over Liam Everts. De Wolf on 213 points, Liam Everts 203pts, Simon Längenfelder 199pts, Andrea Adamo 191pts and Sacha Coenen 155pts.

MX2 Moto One

McLellan took the holeshot in the MX2 opener, with Lata, Adamo, Everts, Braceras, Valk, Grau, Benistant, de Wolf, Walvoort, and Elzinga. McLellan looking very good out front with Coenen in 13th and Zanchi 15th.

The South African held a 2.4 second lead over Lata, with de Wolf moving into sixth place with a pass on Valk, and Reisulis passed Benistant for 10th place. De Wolf into fifth place with a pass on Braceras, and the top ten on lap three was McLellan, Lata, Adamo, Everts, De Wolf, Braceras, Valk, Grau, Elzinga, and Prugnieres in 10th.

Factory riders everywhere outside the top ten with Benistant 11th, Reisulis 12th, Langenfelder 13th, Coenen 14th and Zanchi 15th. Yes, this class is loaded with factory men. Reisulis in trouble as he has a problem with the back wheel, and into the mechanics area.

De Wolf closing up on Everts for fourth spot as the two Nestaan Husqvarna riders continue their battle for the 2025 title. Adamo all over Lata for second place as the Italian tries to replay his GP victory here a couple of years ago. Both those riders actually catching the leader, McLellan.

Lap seven and the lead by McLellan was 2.1 seconds, with Lata and Adamo still in close quarters, then came Everts, de Wolf, Braceras, Valk, Elzinga, Coenen and Benistant 10th. McLellan made the gap slightly bigger as Lata and Adamo kept the crowd entertained as the two Italian riders fought for second and on lap nine Adamo loved into second.

Lata struggling a little as Everts and de Wolf both moved into fourth and Lata fifth. De Wolf all over the back wheel of his team-mate and they were both closing up on Adamo and McLellan. The Triumph factory rider was holding a 4.5 second lead on lap 10 and looking very calm in the lead.

Adamo had a nice view behind him as both Everts and de Wolf were just a second behind and McLellan’s lead was 4.3 seconds. De Wolf kept pushing for a way past Everts and on lap 13 moved into second place. His next goal was second place and Adamo.

Top ten on lap 14 was McLellan with a 3.2 second lead over Adamo, then de Wolf a further second back, followed by Everts, Lata, Valk, Elzinga, Braceras, Coenen and Benistant. McLellan wins it from de Wolf and Adamo.
