In front of a record-breaking attendance of 40,000 fans, South African, Camden McLellan has won the opening moto of the toughest race in the world, at the deep sand of Lommel. The Triumph factory rider came through after an average start to fight through the field, eventually passing his team-mate, Guillem Farres and going off for what turned out to be an easy victory.

Camden McLellan: Again, not a great start, in fact a terrible start. Riding was good, I didn't need to do anything crazy and just rode my own race. I will go back and try and get a better start in the second race.

Championship points see Farres with 39 over Coenen, Guillem Farres 646 points; Sacha Coenen 607pts, Camden Mc Lellan 583pts, Simon Längenfelder 578pts and Liam Everts 526pts.

MX2 Moto One

Everts led the opening MX2 moto, with Grau passing for the lead, but Everts back into the lead, followed by Langenfelder, Farres, Karssemakers, Lata, Janis Reisulis, Callemo, Kees and Coenen, but Coenen crashed and dropped right back to 23rd.

Farres into the lead and looking very determined in front, with Everts second and Langenfelder third. Janis Reisulis passed Langenfelder for third place and Coenen 22nd. Lap two and it was Farres, Everts, Janis Reisulis, Langenfelder, Karssemakers, Lata, Karlis Reisulis, McLellan, Grau, Mikula.

The lead by Farres on lap four was three seconds over Everts, with Janis Reisulis five seconds back and Langenfelder 7.4 back in fourth. Then came Karlis Reisulis, McLellan, Karssemakers, Mikula, Grau and Lata 10th. Coenen up to 12th spot.

Lap seven it was Farres with a 3.8 second lead over Everts, with Janis Reisulis third, then Langenfelder, McLellan, Karlis Reisulis, Mikula, Karssemakers, Coenen and Smulders. Coenen passed Karssemakers for 8th place. Karssemakers out of the race with a smoking bike.

McLellan all over Langenfelder for fourth place and he made the pass to move into fourth and then all over Reisulis and Everts, as this group of four battle in the deep sand. Farres in control though, with a seven second lead over Everts. McLellan passed Reisulis and into third place.

McLellan then passed Everts and will go after Farres, with the gap down to six seconds. Reisulis also passed Everts, but then Everts got him back. Coenen into seventh with a pass on Mikula. The gap was quickly 5.4 seconds and McLellan flying.

Everts back to fifth as Langenfelder passed Everts and also Reisulis. Farres turned it up a little as the gap returned to 6.1 seconds. Top ten on lap nine was Farres, McLellan, Langenfelder, Reisulis, Everts, Karlis Reisulis, Coenen, Mikula, Smulders and Callemo back in the top ten. Everts out of the race with seemingly a bike problem.

McLellan catching Farres, with gap between the two Triumph men, less than a second as Farres then made a mistake and ran off the track, with McLellan all over his back wheel. McLellan into the lead as they collide and its McLellan, Farres, Langenfelder, Janis Reisulis, Karlis Reisulis, Coenen, Mikula, Smulders, Callemo and Lata.

Farres struggling big time as the lead by McLellan was 3.5 seconds and Langenfelder passed the Spaniard. The gap was quickly 5.2 seconds and the South African showing his sand skills as Farres might be feeling it in these hot conditions?

McLellan too good for everyone with a runaway win, with Langenfelder second and Farres third. Coenen came home in sixth, which was a great effort after his crash early in the moto.
