The fans got off to a good start at the ADAC MX Masters race abroad on Saturday. Championship leader Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing) put the rest of the ADAC MX Masters class in its place with another lights-to-flag victory in Bitche. In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, reigning champion Mads Fredsoe (DK/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM) crossed the finish line first. With a bit of luck, Lucas Leok (EST/KTM MX Futures) won the race on the last lap of the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125.
Max Nagl took command of the first race with the Red Bull Holeshot from the start and already gained a small lead over Tom Koch (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team), Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/SHR Motorsports by Hartje), Acerbis Best Qualifier Roan van de Moosdijk (NL/KTM Kosak Racing Team) and Nico Koch (D/Becker Racing) on the opening lap. On lap four, Talviku took over the first chasing position, but crashed a lap later, allowing van de Moosdijk to move up to second place. Shortly before half-time, Jere Haavisto pushed Koch out of the top three. One lap later, Koch was relegated to fifth place by Spies. Two laps before the finish, Peter König (D/KTM GST Berlin Racing) took fifth place with a strong drive. Nagl won ahead of van de Moosdijk, Haavisto, Spies and König.
"You probably didn't notice it that way from the outside, but the track was brutally difficult to drive today with the deep and damp ground. It took a lot of strength to keep my balance and pull on the handlebars on the long ascents over the bumps. The start was an important basis for this race, I put a lot of focus on it," said Nagl.
In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, the fans at the front experienced a fiercely contested race. After the Red Bull holeshot, Saku Mansikkamäki (FIN/Schmicker Silve Racing) was in the lead ahead of Bence Pergel (HU/HTS Racing Team) and Maximilian Ernecker (A/SixtySeven Racing Team), but lost it to Pergel after a crash on the second lap. Fredsoe moved up to third place behind Ernecker. The league leader Skovbjerg struggled again with the start and, as in the week before, started the race from the midfield. At the halfway point of the race, Fredsoe took the lead within two laps ahead of Pergel and Valentin Kees (D/KTM Kosak Racing Team). On lap eight, Lyonel Reichl (LIE/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) moved up from fourth to second place, Kees held on to third position by overtaking Pergel. Skovbjerg then pushed the German out of third place with three laps to go. In the penultimate lap, Reichl went to the ground. Fredsoe won ahead of Skovbjerg, Kees defended third place against the final attacks of Scott Smulders (NL/SixtySeven Racing Team) and Liam Owens (AUS/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt KTM) rounded off the top five.
"At the beginning, I was too focused on the people in front of me and had difficulty finding places to overtake. Just before the middle of the race, I was almost overtaken, which woke me up and then acted more decisively. From that point on, I got stronger, was able to take the lead and work out a small lead. I'm very happy to finally be back on the top of the podium," Fredsoe said happily.
Moritz Ernecker (A/Norman KTM Factory Rookies) took the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot at his first start of the season in the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, but championship leader Leok hung directly in his slipstream. In the course of the race, the two top drivers clearly set themselves apart from the rest of the field. Initially, Acerbis Best Qualifier Emil Ziemer (CH/Motobike Racing Team) was in third place, but retired after a crash in the middle of the race. As a result, Dawid Zaremba (PL/SHR Motorsports by Hartje) moved up to third position. On the last lap, Ernecker's front wheel slipped away on the braking bumps after the pit lane and Leok took the lead. Leok won ahead of Ernecker, Zaremba, Jarno Jansen (CH/ADAC Südbaden e.V.) and Luca Frank (D/Becker Racing).
"With the start, I have created a good starting position behind Moritz. Our gap varied slightly throughout the race. In the end, we both had a lot to do with the lapped riders, which didn't make it easy. But then Moritz crashed and I was able to win. I'm satisfied with that," Leok explained.
The re-live of the first day of racing is available on the ADAC Motorsport YouTube channel available. The livestream of all races on Sunday starts at 10.30 a.m. and can be downloaded at adac.de/mx-masters be prosecuted.
