Jorge Prado is a five-time world champion, adding the SMX championship in USA to his two MXGP and two MX2 championships in Europe. How seriously you want to take the SMX championship is up to you, but you cannot deny is the Spaniard is starting to look a serious threat to the Lawrence brothers when the 2027 season begins at A1 in early January.

“I mean, one year ago, I wasn’t racing here and I didn’t even have a ride at that point. The Red Bull KTM racing team did an amazing job, prepping all winter long, every single week. I prepped myself at home, the best I could and I bounced back. That is what champions do right, they bounce back. Super happy about this title, its my first title here in the states. I am a four time world champion for a reason. I think I showed them in this last moto, it isn’t over until its over and I showed you guys, everything is possible. I am another time world champion, lets go.”

Prado went 5-1 in the final round, losing out to Haiden Deegan who won the overall with 1-2 scores, but the KTM factory rider had the big advantage entering the SMX play-offs and that helped him get the overall victory in the championship.

Third overall on the day was Hunter Lawrence with 3-3 scores, while Ken Roczen went 2-5 and Cooper Webb 4-4 in fifth place overall. Levi Kitchen, who will represent Team USA at Ernee next weekend won the 250 class, with 153 points, to Ryder DiFrancesco who came second overall with 129 points and Cole Davies getting 128 points for third overall in the 250 championships.

Now, as we head to Ernee for the biggest race of the year, Prado, Kitchen and many others will be battling for a bigger prize and no doubt, Team Spain with the SMX world champion in Prado and MX2 world champion with Guillem Tarres will be a strong contender for a victory.
