Red Bull GasGas factory rider Jorge Prado is on the cusp of greatness and a fourth World motocross championship. The defending champion won moto one and only a disaster for Prado in moto two will see him not win the title of 2024. If Prado can also win moto two, he will also take his 49th GP victory.

The Spaniard took the holeshot and just continued to extend his lead over fast starting Tim Gajser, who finished second, with Jeffrey Herlings finishing third, but being penalized three places for cutting the track at the start (he was pushed off the track and had no choice). The championship points gap is now 12 points with one moto remaining, Jorge Prado 978pts and Tim Gajser 966pts.

Jorge Prado: I was feeling good, maybe Gajser made a mistake, I don’t know. I slowed down to bring it home. I caught my glove on a trackside fence and cut my hand, but its okay.

MXGP Moto One

Prado an amazing start with Gajser fourth and quickly into second, with Herlings back around 10th place. Gajser needs to make a statement now and attack Prado. Herlings eight and the top ten was Prado, Gajser, Seewer, Forato, Bonacorsi, Guadagnini, Renaux, Herlings, Febvre, and Lupino. Herlings into sixth place and then fifth.

Prado looking sensational to be honest and Gajser having to probably ride over his head to try and keep with him. The back end of Prado’s bike swapping around as he is also pushing really hard to try and break Gajser. Renaux crashed and dropped to 12th position.

Lap two and the gap was 1.7 seconds, with Herlings 8.3 back in fifth place. Prado the quickest lap of the moto and Prado really looking brilliant. Gajser pulled back up on Prado for the lead, but Prado might be playing again, as he gets back to 2.9 seconds ahead. Herlings into fourth, but the Dutchman got a penalty for leaving the race track and lost three places.

Prado extended his gap to 3.8 and he is just cruising now. On lap five the lead was 4.1 and a championship is looking like the defending champions. On lap five the top ten was Prado, Gajser, Seewer, Herlings, Forato, Bonacorsi, Febvre. Lupino, Guillid and Renaux. Herlings into third, but he will still get that penalty at the end of the moto, which would drop him to sixth spot.

Lap eight and the lead was 7.6 seconds and the Spanish crowd loving every minute of this. Lap 11 and not a lot changing as the lead was 7.7 and Herlings was 18 seconds back in third. Lupino on the Ducati in ninth place. Prado wins it with a three second advantage over Gajser, with Herlings finishing third in the moto. Then came Jeremy Seewer and Romain Febvre.
