Jorge Prado has won an exciting MXGP qualification race with a brilliant lead, and then fighting off the charge from slow starting Jeffrey Herlings. Both gain points on Gajser, who finished third, some 25 seconds off the lead.

Jorge Prado: I couldn't find my flow, I was a bit tight, but I managed to beat everyone. Every corner was broken and hard to find a rhythm. Lets see what we can do tomorrow from P1.

Prado with the lead over Gajser, Gifting, Vlaanderen, Bonacorsi, Herlings, Bogers, Horgmo, Coldenhoff and Seewer 10th. Febvre 11th, Sterry 12th and Mewse in 15th. Herlings back into fifth place and chasing hard. Herlings into fourth and now 7.6 seconds behind Prado.

Lap two and it was Prado, Gajser, Vlaanderen, Herlings, Bogers, Gifting, Bonacorsi, Horgmo, Febvre, and Coldenhoff 10th. Mewse riding well and into 11th as he passed Seewer. Prado with a 2.5 second lead over Gajser and eight seconds over Herlings in fourth. Mewse into the top ten as he passed Coldenhoff.

Lap three and Prado held a two second lead over Gajser, with Vlaanderen seven seconds back and Herlings nine seconds off the leaders pace. Mewse with Horgmo and Febvre just ahead as he tries to fight for a better position. Its been a while since a Brit was making this type of progress in an MXGP moto. Herlings all over Vlaanderen for third spot.

Herlings into third on lap five and still nine seconds off Prado. The lead by Prado over Gajser was now four seconds and the Spaniard is really sending a message to the other two of the big three. Mewse passed Bonacorsi, who was fading badly and on lap six it was Prado, Gajser, Herlings, Vlaanderen, Bogers, Horgmo, Febvre, Mewse, Bonacorsi, and Coldenhoff 10th. Seewer 11th, Forato 12th and Jago Geerts 19th.

Herlings closing up on Gajser for second and now seven seconds behind Prado. Herlings starting to really warm up. Maybe he is about to send his own message to Gajser and Prado. Herlings into second and now 6.9 seconds off Prado. Lap seven and the lead was 5.2 seconds and the top ten was Prado, Herlings, Gajser, Vlaanderen, Bogers, Horgmo, Febvre, Mewse, Bonacorsi, and Coldenhoff.

The lead was down to 3.9 and its clear, Herlings is going for the moto win. Herlings really warming up and the lead was 3.5, but Herlings is putting in great lap times, and Gajser is now 11 seconds off the pace of the two front guys. Three laps remaining and the lead is down to three seconds. Lap eight and the lead was suddenly just 1.8 seconds.

Herlings all over Prado and its hard to see him stop the Dutchman taking the lead and Prado’s lap times are dropping badly. Prado opened the gap to two seconds and maybe the Spaniard is playing. Horgmo passed Bogers to move into fifth.

Again Herlings all over Prado, but the Spaniard stays calm and doesn’t allow the Dutchman the chance to pass. Prado wins it, gains two points on Gajser, who finished third and Herlings was second. Prado wins from Herlings and Gajser.
