R. J. Hampshire - Ready

  • Interview

Team USA rider, R. J. Hampshire sure looks the goods in his FLY racing gear and USA decked out bike, and he sat down and talked with the media and below is what he told them. Also some cool images from the team at Fullspectrum.

Due to injury, Chase Sexton was no longer able to compete for the United States at the 2025 Motocross of Nations. Filling his void was Hampshire.

Hampshire also brings a championship pedigree to the table, previously winning the 2024 AMA Supercross 250SX West title. He also enjoyed a strong showing in the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross season, finishing fifth in the 450 class, coming on the heels of his third-place finish in the 250SX East class during the 2025 AMA Supercross season.

R. J. Hampshire: It is awesome, and this race is so special and have the chance to race here, a place I ride well at and like a lot. Have the whole family here in the camper, so its all good. It is like a supercross into outdoors, with twice the fans and see all the overseas stuff and they come here and get to see us race. It is nice to talk with them, the number of fans that come over from other parts of the world.

One of the best parts of this race, is going all American and FLY, and my other sponsors did a great job in such a short time. My kit this weekend and helmet is just sick. I was staying ready, in case something happened and when I left Vegas, I figured I was in, but was doing some work on my home and then Thursday last week, so I put the house stuff behind me and got to come here and race one more time this year.

I mean, after my summer, I was set on riding the 450. Had the team needed me to race the 250, I would have done it, but Coop is a better 250 guy, and our best option was him on the 250. We swapped moto scores this season and lucky enough we could both do it. I think we have a strong team. Tomac and I have a bunch of little kids running around and we are all camped together.

We practice for 40 minutes tomorrow and then also a qualification race. The track is going to get rough no matter what. The track is a lot dryer here than it normally is, this time of year. I think it might be more hard pack than usual. I am not worried about my fitness and going back-to-back races, and we didn’t’ get a good gate pick, but we will work on that tomorrow and get a better gate pick for Sunday.

I won’t lose money, but I won’t make anything, and I am lucky my team supported it, and we race a lot and then we have another race, while the other teams are on holidays. Just seeing my kit, its cool and this is the biggest race of the year, and I will do it for free.
