Back in 1974, when two unknowns on the World scene, Mike Hartwig and Ken Zahrt won the 500cc and 250cc classes at the Redbud circuit, nobody could have imagined this circuit would become one of the most legendary in World motocross history.

While these two American talents would never moved into the same type of legend status of names like Bob Hannah, Marty Smith, Ricky Johnson, Jeff Ward, or Mark Barnett, the stars of the 1970s and 80s in USA, their part on that day in April in 1974 will always be a special one.

As for "The Goat" Ricky Carmichael, well, he did at Redbud what he did everywhere else, winning twice on the 125 and seven times on the 250/450. Yes, until now, he is the King of Redbud.

Rick Johnson won four times, twice on the 500cc machine and twice on a 250 machine, when the 250 class was the premier class. Mike Kiedrowski won three times in the 250/450 class and once in the 125/250 class.

Two riders who won in the 125cc/250cc class and won often were Jeff Emig and Ryan Villopoto, who both won three times in the small bike class, with Emig adding two wins in the 250/450 class and Villopoto winning once on the 450.

Ken Roczen and James Stewart won three each, both once in the 125cc class and twice in the 250/450 class. Jeff Ward won three times, each time on a different class, from 500cc, 125cc and 250cc. Eli Tomac won three times in the 450 class, but never on the smaller bike.

Amazingly, Jett Lawrence has just one victory at Redbud, which come two years ago in the 450 class. Unlike so many other circuits around America, he failed to win the 125cc/250cc class.
