In a wild opening SX1 moto, Ken Roczen on his Suzuki has won ahead of Eli Tomac and Christian Craig. In front of a sold-out Gold Coast crowd, the German looked sensational, but there must be some concern for Tomac as he didn’t look as comfortable as the winner.

Ken Roczen: It is warm out there. A lot hotter in the stadium than outside. I didn't get a good start, made some mistakes and its tough out there, it is slippery out there and you need to be so careful on the throttle.

Savatgy in the lead in the opening SX1 moto, with Deegan near last after a poor first corner. Tomac was second, then Craig, Aranda, Roczen, Tixier, Webb, Anderson, Politelli, and Friese 10th. Deegan in 11th and Moss back in 16th place.

Craig made a move to pass Tomac but then made a mistake and Tomac back into second. Roczen moved into fourth place with a pass on Aranda and crazy racing in Australia. Savatgy slowing up a field as everyone closing up on the leader.

Tomac into the lead and Roczen and Craig all over Savatgy and they both passed Savatgy. What a sensational race for the Aussie crowd. Lap four it was Tomac, Roczen, Savatgy back passed Craig, then Webb, Aranda, Anderson, Tixier, Deegan and Politelli.

Roczen into the lead and pushing hard to get away from Tomac. Deegan flying and up to sixth place as Savatgy made a big mistake, allowing Webb into fourth place. Roczen wins it from Tomac and Craig.
