At the age of 34, MXGP veteran, Romain Febvre will defend his MXGP championship next year, and be the oldest man in the field. Successful or not, he will then decided how long he races. It might be a year, or might be two, but we better all enjoy this professional and hard working Kawasaki rider, because even 2026 could be his last season in the sport.

“I know that the time will come to stop racing," Febvre told American media legend, Eric Johnson recently. "Now it is closer, for sure. Next year I am going to go for it again and then I think after the season is complete, if I can get some deal where I can get just a one-year contract, then I will take that because then I can stop anywhere I want. I don’t want to get a big deal again for two or three years because that makes no sense for me.”

While we have enjoyed the two-time world champions performances in the last decade, you just know that he will put in a super effort in 2026 to become the greatest French GP rider of all time. Victory or not, who knows if we even see him in 2027.

"I feel really good, to be in this dream position and to be world champion and this one feels better than the first one. I was young then and after the first one, I was so busy, and I didn’t even enjoy that moment. Now, ten years later I am enjoying every moment of it. This season has been very hard, for all of us. I had to work really hard for this, like everybody else. I didn’t shy away or get down sometimes. I didn’t get some injuries, like in previous years. It was so hard, but I came through and now to be world champion again, it feels like none of the bad stuff happened. I am so grateful of all the opportunities I have in my life. I have a beautiful family, my daughter and that is what matters."

With Ernee as the venue for the 2026 MXoN and Febvre more than likely in the French team, and at a circuit that he has dominated on in MXoN battle, will we see him retire on the podium with a French flag in his hand and the taste of champagne in his mouth.
