Red Bull KTM factory rider Simon Langenfelder might be having his best season ever as the 21-year-old German rider holds the red plate and has added two Grand Prix victories to his name. Langenfelder has often been something of a misguided motocrosser, many expect too much from him and finally he seems to be handling the pressure with ease.

Already career record of third in the World in 2022, 2023, and 2024, he now stands with the red plate in 2025 and might be ready to make the step to the number one plate. Five Grand Prix victories to his name is also showing more maturity and below you can find his opinion of every single Grand Prix this year and the results he put together.

Latvia - 2nd and 3rd for 2nd overall in MX2

“We came here without the red plate, and we leave quite a few points in front, so we have to say it was a good weekend. It’s a pity about the mistake on the last lap when I cross-rutted. I couldn’t get the bike started fast enough to stay up front. Those mistakes happen sometimes. I was perhaps cruising a bit because of the last lap and wasn’t fully focused. I’ll have to try and make sure that doesn’t happen again. There are a lot of fast guys in this class and going for the championship…but I feel quite confident about what we are doing right now.”

Germany - 3rd and 9th for 5th overall in MX2

“A difficult weekend and I made the race hard for myself because of the starts. I wasn’t the best in the first laps and lost positions there. In the first race I could fight back to 3rd when the track was really, really difficult for passing and I also had the fastest lap. I was struggling a bit with the suspension in the rain during the second race and I also hit a neutral, which made me crash. It was chaos and I couldn’t come back higher than 9th. Still, we’re 2nd in the championship and so close for points. The fans were amazing, let’s go for Latvia.”

France - 1st and 1st for 1st overall in MX2

“It’s a long time since I’ve had the red plate! For sure I’m happy to have it again on the bike but it’s still early in the season and there are so many fast guys in the title fight. We’ll keep trying our best. A few weeks ago, we made a few changes that have helped with my starts and it’s working out quite good for me but there are a few KTM riders here so we can all start well! Home GP now and I’m really looking forward to it; I think the German fans will make some noise!”

Spain - 8th and 3rd for 6th overall in MX2

“Difficult weekend. Another mudder! It’s so difficult to stay consistent in those types of races. I had a crash in the first moto that cost me a lot of positions because it was in the first few laps, but I could manage to finish 8th. In the second race I had a better start and stayed at the front. Finishing 3rd was not enough for a podium or a top five but I took some points. Now I’m hoping to rebound in France.”

Portugal - 2nd and 4th for 3rd overall in MX2

“So much mud! It was really hard to pass in the first moto, there was a lot of water and even though they worked on the track there was only one line. It was difficult but I could get Kay for 2nd. I folded the front on the first lap of the second moto and had to come from last. I had a good feeling on the bike though and unfortunately; I ran out of tear-offs which made overtaking a challenge. A decent second race but a bit unlucky. Today could have been much better.”

Switzerland - 1st and 1st for 1st overall in MX2

“A first overall win this year! I’m really happy. I felt good on the track and dealing with all those ruts. I got two good starts and could check-out from there. A first win of the season now gives me a confidence boost for the next few races.”

Italy - 7th and 3rd for 4th overall in MX2

“I finished 3rd on Saturday but the track was really difficult, lots of square edges but also soft patches. It wasn’t easy. Then unfortunately in the first race I didn’t have a great start and struggled to pass. I could only get back to 7th. In the second race I started in 3rd and finished in 3rd! Just missed the podium. We are there…we just need consistent starts.”

Sardinia - 3rd and 6th for 4th overall in MX2

“The weekend was just OK. A good qualifying win on Saturday but I had to come from outside the top ten in the first moto and got back to 3rd: that was good. I felt fast on the bike and could push. Second race I got cut-off at the start and struggled to push back due to some stomach pain. 6th was not ideal, but it was a half-positive weekend, and we have stuff to work on for the next rounds.”

France - 1st and 3rd for 2nd overall in MX2

“In the second race I struggled a bit at the beginning to find all the good ruts, it was not that easy, but the riding was not too bad. It was very satisfying to win the first moto and to be on the podium again. I really like the track in Sardinia, so I’m looking forward to it already.”

Spain - 5th and 4th for 4th overall in MX2

“A difficult weekend in Spain but we worked well. I couldn’t get any points on Saturday: too many crashes and a bad start, but on Sunday better starts! Still some mistakes but I think this is normal in these conditions. 4th overall; not too bad and if I could have passed Andrea at the end then it would have been the podium. It’s still early in the season and already looking forward to the next races.”

Argentina - 2nd and 6th for 3rd overall in MX2

“I was feeling good and fast with the bike this weekend and I cannot really explain what happened at the end of the second moto. We have to figure some things out for the next Grand Prix. I’m fit and could ride well but we have to look at these mistakes and put them right for Spain.”
