As we head to Cozar, Spain this weekend for the second round of the 2025 MXGP championship, we thought we might go back in time to another Spanish GP. Nearly 60 years ago and unlike Cozar (which is in the south of Spain), in the north of Spain just outside of Barcelona, was the sensational Sabadell circuit.

Belgian rider Raymond Boven pulled something of a surprise with victory at the Spanish 250cc Grand Prix in 1977 at the Circuito del Valles (Sabadell Terrassa). It was the year of Gennady Moisseev as the Russian won six of the 12 rounds, and the championship at the end of the season. His second of three World motocross championships.
