Spies Wins in Germany
In good racing conditions, Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing) won the race at the ADAC MX Masters in Mölln on Saturday after the first time in two years. Quentin Prugnieres (F/WZ-Racing KTM) controlled the first race of the ADAC MX Youngster Cup at the "Grambeker Heidering". In the ADAC MX Junior Cup 125, victory went to Ian Ampoorter (B/F4E GasGas Junior Racing Team).
Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) was the fastest to get off the grid and secured the Red Bull holeshot. After a two-lap duel with Maximilian Spies, the latter took the lead and continuously pulled away from the rest of the field over the course of the race. Jakub Teresak (CZ/KMP-Honda-Racing-Team by DVAG) and Acerbis Best Qualifier Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) pushed Ludwig out of the top three on lap five.
This order remained the same until the finish line. Champion leader Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek) was only on twelfth position after the start, but worked his way up and overtook Jörgen-Matthias Talviku (EST/JMT Esttrans Yamaha Keskus Racing Team), who was in fifth place, shortly before the end of the race.
"After two years without a race win, it feels good now. I've worked hard for it and I'm very happy that I was able to improve the results even further after the good start in Fürstlich Drehna. After the duel with Noah, I tried to find my rhythm quickly," Spies beamed.
In the ADAC MX Youngster Cup, Linus Jung (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) took the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot, but had to let Acerbis Best Qualifier Quentin Prugnieres and Mads Fredsoe (DK/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna) pass him on the first lap.
While the leading duo quickly distanced themselves from the rest of the field, Jung defended his position until two laps before the end, but fell out of the points after a crash. Bradley Mesters (NL/Kosak Racing Team), Sebastian Leok (MX-Handel Husqvarna Racing) and Liam Owens (AU/Cat Moto Bauerschmidt Husqvarna) benefited from this and finished the race in the top five.
"With a good start, I made my life a little easier than at the season opener. I quickly went to the top and then tried to concentrate on myself and the choice of lanes. The course has a few tricky spots," explained Prugnieres.
