Surprise Winner in ADAC
At the second event of the ADAC MX Masters in Mölln, the overall victory went to Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team). In front of a record crowd at the "Grambeker Heidering", however, the three race victories at the weekend went to Maximilian Spies (D/Becker Racing), Roan Van de Moosdijk (NL/Kosak Racing Team) and Max Nagl (D/Dörr Motorsport Triumph Racing powered by Krettek). Nagl thus slightly extended his lead in the championship.
The most consistent driver in Mölln was Noah Ludwig, who collected the most points in the three races without having won a race. Two Red Bull holeshots formed his basis for good results.
On Saturday, the first race victory went to Maximilian Spies ahead of Jakub Teresak (CZ/KMP-Honda-Racing-Team by DVAG). Ludwig finished fourth behind Acerbis Best Qualifier Van de Moosdijk. On Sunday, Ludwig benefited from a crash by Nagl in the second race to slip to second position behind Van de Moosdijk.
Ludwig was overtaken by Marcel Stauffer (A/Osicka MX Team) at the end of the race, but pushed him back to third place after a driving error. In the third race, Ludwig sprinted to the front at the start and withstood Nagl's attacks until five laps before the end. Second place behind Nagl and ahead of Spies was enough for Ludwig's first overall victory in the ADAC MX Masters.
"It was a good and consistent weekend for me in Mölln. With three good starts and three good races, I achieved my goal after making too many mistakes of my own at the season opener," Ludwig beamed.
Championship leader Max Nagl had to struggle with difficulties this weekend. In the first race, he moved up to fifth place after a failed start from the midfield. In the second race, he took the lead with the Red Bull Holeshot, but crashed during a jump. He resumed the ride in fourth place, which he brought to the finish.
In the third race, the reigning champion stuck to Ludwig's rear wheel from the start and took the lead in the last third of the race to win the race.
"I'm satisfied with second place in Mölln and the extension of the championship lead, but too many mistakes and things happened that shouldn't have happened. I rode with a defective shock in the second run without noticing it. After information from outside, I used the shock absorber of the spare bike for the third run, which brought a big improvement," Nagl concluded.
After third place in the first race, Roan Van de Moosdijk took the first race win of his ADAC MX Masters career on Sunday. In the third race, he stalled the engine on the opening lap while braking and came to a stop, causing another driver to collide with him and bring him down. Van de Moosdijk finished the following catch-up race in eighth place, which put him in third place overall ahead of Spies and Teresak.
"It's annoying that I squandered a possible overall victory after two good races. But under these circumstances, I'm happy to be on the podium and to be well placed in the championship," Van de Moosdijk said conciliatory.
