Team Talk - WSX
It's Round Two, in Vancouver here's what the team bosses had to say about it. Another big event in our european winter, so nobody can complain about having extra races and the debut of Eli Tomac on the KTM is for sure, something very special.
Dave Antolak Rick Ware Racing
Dave Antolak on Coty Schock’s Buenos Aires City GP:
“Cody had an issue in the first practise where he had a mechanical issue, so he missed the first practice. And then had the sound issue later in the second practice and got put back five places.
“So he started off in the hole, and I’m pretty proud of how he came back. And especially that last race was quite a race to watch.”
Dave Antolak on Enzo Lopes in Argentina:
“I think Enzo was capable of more. If things would have stacked up maybe a little differently for him, we could have seen him on the podium and I know that was something that was really important to him.
“All the fans from Brazil were there. I think Enzo maybe got a little distracted by all the fanfare. He was very popular there.”
Sébastien Tortelli, Stark
Sébastien Tortelli on the Buenos Aires GP:
“I was expecting to be a hard learning curve. We had one issue on one lap, and it’s just hard to manage at some points.
“The rules are the rules, so I totally understand the FIM way of enforcing it, and we don’t argue against it. It’s just a work in progress. The framework is there.
“It shows also that FIM has control, so I think it’s good for the sport and everybody to be reassured about it.”
Sebastien Tortelli on Michael Hick’s performance in Buenos Aires:
“His riding was exceptional. We’ve been working hard with him. He’s been spending some time in Spain, and we’ve been training. So I think he’s a rider that has a great potential.
“In the past, he hasn’t been able to express it the right way. I know he can race even better than what he did. It’s just a matter of putting the dots together.”
Tony Alessi, Motoconcepts Racing
Tony Alessi on Cullin Park’s performance in Buenos Aires
“Cullin came into the season pretty underrated. I mean, despite the fact that maybe people don’t remember that he got two podiums in the U.S. Supercross this year, which is pretty great.
“His level is extremely good. He’s a big guy on a small bike, right. And so, for him to be able to do what he’s doing is pretty incredible.”
Tony Alessi on his other riders’ performances
“As you know, or may not know, I have two ArenaCross guys. That’s the guys that I brought here to World Supercross. And they’re really good when the conditions get small and tight.
“So far, we have two big floors but when we get to those little tighter floors, you’re going to see both of these guys closer to the front when we get into the smaller stadiums.”
Larry Brooks, Pipes Motorsport Group
Larry Brooks on Jason Anderson’s improvements:
“He definitely has more. It’s just not time yet. He’s still learning the bike. He’s still fresh on the Suzuki. He will learn it.
“I think he’ll be in a better spot by racing the whole World Supercross Series. It’s just a matter of time. It’s just a new motorcycle and not knowing how the chassis or how the bike will react to hitting a jump.
“He hangs on and he hits it and then nothing happens. And he’s like, ‘okay, I can do that’. And then just continues and then brings it up to the next level. It’s just baby steps but he’s on his way.”
Serge Guidetty, Team GSM
Serge Guidetty on Max Anstie’s performance in Buenos Aires:
“Max was incredible because since the beginning to the end, he was really fast in practice and all races. I’m very happy about the deal we found with Max because it was a long talk with Yamaha to find the solution to have for Team GSM a very good superstar rider like him.
Serge Guidetty on his rider line up:
“I’m very happy about it and for my all other French riders, I can say that. I’m very confident about the level of all our riders because since the beginning of the World Supercross Championship, we worked very hard and year after year, the level is really good for all our riders.”
Damien Rulland, Venom Bud Racing
Damien Rulland on Cole Thompson racing in his home GP:
“Cole was a little bit disappointed last week , so he had a lot of revenge for this weekend. So I think he’s ready. We put some adjustments on the bike also, so we will see. But if he’s ready, so we are ready also.”
Damien Rulland on Justin Hill’s progress:
“Justin didn’t feel anything on the bike, maybe he needs some time to train on it. We improved a lot of things during Buenos Aires. We expect a lot from this weekend.”
